Weekly Poop 5/27/2020

Roost #44 Poop
·         (Frank’s note: All items subject to change/cancellation)

·         From the Prez
The recipients of the golf scholarships were contacted last week..Don McMullan will have more information on the presentation…

Still no word on the picnic, Shorebirds game or next meeting for month of June..BUT it seems that the restrictions are changing by the week so maybe we can actually have a socially distant meeting in July ( cross our fingers )

Remember to check out the Roost merchandise store app…nice to pick up some shirts for 2020..

Also please patronize our local merchants as they start to open..and especially our local restaurants/bars as they are ones who have taking a hit during this pandemic

Hope all is doing well and still please practice social distancing

·         Dates to Remember:
o    6/11/2020 – Monthly Roost Meeting
o    6/27/2020 – Summer Picnic
o    7/9/2020 – Monthly Roost Meeting
o    8/13/2020 – Monthly Roost Meeting
o    10/31/2020 – Bull/Oyster Roast
o    12/12/2020 – Christmas Party

·         Membership: We currently have 121 paid members.  Thanks all!

·         Wellness: Please call Marian Cicero @ 410.250.2501 or 443.880.0862 if you know of a Roost member in need of a message of encouragement or a sympathy card for a family member.  Please, no texts or emails.

·         House: As stated in the last three Poops, the Abbey Burger (which made an outstanding offer in the winter) has decided not to reopen in 2020 and will be evaluating 2021.  Our list of possible meeting venues has gotten shorter.  If considerations of social distancing continue on, then Denney's that was marginal before may now be off the list.  Alley Oops may now be marginal.

The Board of Directors met recently and recommended that any meetings we might have from now until the end of the season should be held at the American Legion.  They have been booked for May, June, July, August and Sept if they happen.

Voting for the "most of the time favorite" will of course be delayed and will likely include only the American Legion (available all year) and Alley Oops (off season only).  Others would likely be for emergencies only.  Our situation seems to be ever changing.

·         Scholarship Golf: The winners of this years $2,200.00 Scholar/Athlete Scholarships are:
o    Indian River High School
§  Kaylee Hall
§  Avery Congleton
o    Stephen Decatur High School
§  Isabelle Kristick
§  Mikayla Denault
o    Worcester Preparatory High School
§  Abbigail (Abbi) Nechay
§  Elizabeth Saylor McGuiness

A big thank you to our Scholarship committee for choosing this year’s awardees.

Thank you, Don McMullen

Funny Poop
·         Frank was sitting at the table one morning, reading the paper after breakfast.  He came across an article about a beautiful actress who was about to marry a football player known for his lack of IQ.

He turned to his wife and said, "I'll never understand why the biggest jerks get the most attractive wives."

She replied, "Why, thank you, Dear!"

Weekly Poop 5/20/2020

Roost #44 Poop
·         (Frank’s note: All items subject to change/cancellation)

·         From the Prez
The Golf Scholarship Committee has selected this years 2020 High School Recipient winners.  Chairman Don McMullan will announce the winners and
their respected schools.

It looks like we will go into June unsure of any news for lifting any more of the restrictions with beaches, boardwalks and some businesses open things might ease up for other activities.

The Ravens Council had a Zoom meeting last Friday and basically nothing to report.

I’m still looking for volunteers for fundraising committee and other interests in the Roost.  Please contact me if interested.

No word on the picnic in June from Ocean Pines or the Shorebirds game.  White Horse Park is closed for now.  Carol Munroe and Ron Apperson will have updates on both events.

This weekend is Memorial Day weekend and with the current COVID-19 turmoil in the world please keep in mind of all the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our country’s freedom.

Funny Poop
·         John goes to the deli for some soup.  After he's seated and about to eat he calls the waiter over.
When the waiter comes he says, "Taste this soup."
The waiter says, "Why, what's wrong with the soup?"
John says, "Taste this soup."
The waiter says, "John, you've come in here for thirty years and you always get the soup, you've never complained before."
John says, "Taste this soup."
The waiter says, "What?  What is it?  If you don't want the chicken soup we have other kinds - vegetable, Italian Minestrone?"
John says, "Taste this soup!"
The waiter finally agrees, "Fine John, fine!  I'll taste the soup".
He leans over the table prepared to taste the soup, he hesitates and says, "Where's your spoon?"
"Exactly," says John, "Where's my bloody spoon?"

·         A woman and a baby were in the doctor's examining room, waiting for the Doctor to come in for the baby's first exam.  The Doctor arrived, examined the baby, checked his weight, and seeming a little concerned, asked if the baby was breast-fed or bottle-fed.
"Breast-fed," she replied.
"Strip down to your waist," the Doctor said.  She did.  He pinched her nipples, then pressed, kneaded, and rubbed both breasts for a while in a detailed examination.  Motioning her to get dressed, he said, "No wonder this baby is underweight, you don't have any milk."
"I know," she said, "I'm his Grandma, but I'm glad I came."
