Previous Meeting Highlights:

·       Larry and Donna sworn in as President and Vice President, respectively.

·       Possible upcoming entertainment events: Kent Island Pub Crawl, OC Pub Crawl, Duckaneer Pirate Cruise, Potomac River Cruise, Bahamas Cruise in 2024.

·       AGH Foundation to attend next month’s meeting for a formal Thank You to Ravens Roost #44 for our continued fundraising efforts.

·       New general charities fundraiser being planned for the Spring.  Penguin Swim Booze Cruise being planned for end of August.

Membership:

I have begun collecting 2023 dues and will continue at the March meeting.  We have 68 paid members so far.  Dues are now $40 per year.  If you cannot attend, you can mail your dues as always to our PO Box: Ravens Roost #44, PO Box 4161, Ocean City MD, 21843, or you can mail them to me at: Susan Berterman, 12290 Dixie Drive, Bishopville, MD, 21813.  Please make all checks payable to Ravens Roost #44.

 

Wellness:

It is with a heavy heart that we must report that our friend Matt Herrmann passed away suddenly on Friday, February 17th.  Please keep Kim and their children in your prayers at this difficult time.

Online store is closed.  We will open again April 1 with shipments in May.

·       We are trying to put a Cruise together for 2024, sailing out of Baltimore.  We need at least 20 people to attend to make it viable.  Please contact Donna..

·       Anyone interested in attending a movie on a Tuesday night along with dinner, please contact Donna.

Just a reminder that our permanent meeting host is American Legion Post 166.  Meeting start at 7:30pm, but all are welcome to arrive early for food and drink specials.

Time: 7:45am registration, 9:00am shotgun start

Tee sponsorship $100.00, Signature Sponsor $2,000.00 and Major Sponsor $1,000.00

Golfer costs: $120.00

Continental breakfast with lunch to follow after golf

50-50 winner and putting contest winner

Silent auction items needed

 

Mailing have went out to sponsors and golfers through the scholarship committee.  Please let members know that they can go to our website www.ocravensroost44.com to download letter to sponsors and golfers as well as tee sponsorship forms and golfers registration forms.

In addition members can start to bring bottle donations for our basket of cheers for the silent auctions, June 2nd.

Parade:

The Delmarva Irish American Club’s 2023 St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be on Saturday, March 11.  Parade begins at 12pm.

 

Anyone that wants to march is welcome to sign up at February’s meeting.  We will gather as usual at the Beach Copy parking lot and tailgate prior to the parade (thanks to Debb!)  Parking is extremely limited at Beach Copy and it is recommended to park somewhere close to the end of the parade route (45th Street) and walk back to Beach Copy.

 

Afterward, the group can gather for some food on the Roost.  All marchers are welcome, but please let me know if you plan to join us, or you want to go off on your own.

          Good of the Roost:

·       Ravens Roost #44 has won many trophies over the last 25 years, a majority of which Gary Miller had graciously stored in his storage locker.  Gary would like to find a new home for them.  Anyone with any ideas where they can be stored (or displayed, preferably), please contact Gary @ 443.618.9972.  garywm1952@gmail.com

 

·       Exciting news, neighbors!  The Caine Woods Community Association is launching our first-ever charity Corn Hole Tournament and Vendor Fair.

 

This event is scheduled for Saturday, April 29, at Alley Oops! restaurant at 131st Street in north Ocean City, from 12-3 PM Featuring music by DJ Brian K. Hall 50/50 & Raffles Food & Drink Specials

 

Tournament is double elimination Play limited to 16 teams Registration cost is $40 per team First bags fly at 12 Noon CASH PRIZES for top teams! First Place: $250 Second Place: $100

A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to: Worcester G.O.L.D. Surfers Healing Eastern Shore T1 Diabetic Support Foundation

Powell Convention Center.  Boater enthusiast’s this is the event for you!  The Seaside Boat Show is the #1 Boat Show on the Eastern Shore.  Featuring over 350 boats, electronics, dock builders, boat lifts, crafts, canvas, archery display, fishing rods, fishing tackle, paddle boards, artists and food vendors; this event will not disappoint.
