The Szlas's Draft Recap

 Draft Recap:

The draft started for the Ravens Thursday at 4:30 when they inked Lamar Jackson to a five-year $260 million contract with 185 million guaranteed! The Day only got better, with the Ravens signing 6 Quality draft picks, 5 of whom could help immediately. Eric DeCosta said,” because we went into the draft only having five draft picks, we were able to take the best player at that spot when we drafted, we did not reach for any needs.”

Round, Pick

1. Pick 22 Zay Flowers WR Boston College

Many experts had him as the top receiver on their draft board, he is a Steve Smith clone!

3. Pick 86 Trenton Simpson LB, Clemson

Mel Kyper had him as top ILB on the board, extremely fast, Makes Plays!

4. 124 Tavius Robinson Edge Ole Miss

Canadian Player who had 7 sacks & 5 forced fumbles this year, should compete right away for playing time at OLB

5. 157 Kyu Blue Kelly DB Stanford

A True shut down corner, who made a name for himself against USC as a junior. Was practice player of the week for the blue team at the senior bowl.

6. 199 Malaesala Aummavae-Layla
OT Oregon

6‘6“ 317 pounds and very light on his feet, salad, not 1 ounce of fat and moves very well, should compete @ Guard to start but plays Tackle as well

7. 229 Andrew Vorhees OL USC

A first team all American, who tore his ACL at the scouting combine and still proceeded to put up the bench press record of 28 during the combine. Predicted to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick before the injury. Will be a starting Guard for Ravens in 2024.

A total fo six scholarships are awarded by Ravens Roost #44 to the three local high schools.  To fund those six scholarships, the Roost donates $15,000.  Each year the goal of the Roost’s golf Tournament is to raise at least $15,000.

Most of the proceeds from the Golf Tournament are raised through sponsors and individual Tee sponsorship.  The Roost’s golf tournament can support up to 128 golfers.  Last year there were 96 golfers.  Most of the entry fee for a golfer is used to defer the cost of running the tournament.  The portion of the golf entry fee after expenses are deducted to help fund the $15,000 donation is between #20-$30.  Depending on the number of golfers participating on the Roost’s tournament, a total of between $3000 to $3800 would be applied to the fund.

Thank you to the members who have sent in your Tee Sponsor form and donation.  There is still time to Sponsor a Tee.  Perhaps you can reach out to family members or consider sponsoring a Tee if you have not sent in the Tee sponsorship form.

Tee sponsorship reduces the reliance on sponsorship.  100 Tee sponsors provides $10,000 toward our goal.  That gets us 2/3 of the way to the goal.

Please conside sponsoring a Tee and reaching out to family and friends for tee sponsorship and to play in the tournament.

Thank you for your attention and your support of this major fund-raiser.
