Weekly Poop 5/26/21

Roost #44 Poop

·       Frank’s note: All items subject to change/cancellation

·       From the Prez

No report.

·       Dates to Remember:

o   5/29 – Raft up

o   6/3—6/6 – Convention

o   6/4 – Scholarship Golf Tourney

o   6/10 – Monthly Roost Meeting

·       Membership: Yearly dues still $30 – Cheap!  Thanks to everyone that has paid so far.  Right now, we have 91 paid members.

I’ll be accepting dues in person at the meeting, or mail them to me at: Susan Berterman, 12290 Dixie Drive, Bishopville, MD 21813.  Please make all checks payable to Ravens Roost #44.

Applications for membership continue to be received, and introductions/votes will be made at the next meeting.

·       24th Annual Ravens Roost #44 Scholarship Golf tournament: Our annual golf scholarship fundraiser tournament is scheduled for June 4th at the Ocean Pines Golf Club with a 9:00am shotgun start.  A Continental Breakfast & Lunch are scheduled at the Ocean Pines Bar & Grill with silent auction tables.  Each golfer will receive a goody bag & two drink coupons. The winner of the putting contest will receive $500.00 & the cash raffle winner will receive $250.00.

We're in need of major sponsors, tee sponsors, golfers, business gift cards, hotel certificates & adult beverage donation for our silent auction.  Tee sponsor & golf registration forms are on our website.  Please bring items for the silent auction to the May 13th monthly meeting at the American Legion.

Thank you,

Bob Munroe & Don McMullen

·       Wellness: Please contact Carol Monroe at carol.munroe@hotmail.com if you know of a Roost member in need of a message of encouragement or a sympathy card for a family member.

·       House: The June meeting will be held @ Bourbon Street on the Beach, 12601 Coastal Hwy, Ocean City, MD 21842 (old home of Abby Burger, behind the Holiday Inn and in front of Northside Park).  I’m sure Ron will have more details in the upcoming weeks.

·       Convention: Starts next Thursday.  See you there!  Sue and I expect to get down to the Castle in the Sand on Thursday around lunchtime and will set up the Hospitality room as soon as they allow us in, so figure the room to open, say, 4pm.  Figure on the room opening 12 pm on Friday and Saturday (actually we're early risers, so it'll be open sooner, but I think we're playing mini golf on Friday morning, so we won't open until we get back).  Looking forward to seeing everyone there.  I hope hot dry weather will be around that weekend for us!

·       Apparel: The Ravens Roost 44 on line store will be open on July 1, 2021.  Orders will be shipped to your home during the month of August,  To access the store the link is Ravensroost44.itemorder.com.  Thanks, Rich Hansen.

·       Entertainment:

o   The first summer raft up is scheduled for this Saturday, 5/29.  Right now, the weather is looking iffy, with a high of 64 and a 55% chance of thunderstorms.  Use your best judgement.  The meeting location is here:

o   The date for the picnic with White Horse park on Saturday July 17th from 10:00am-5:00pm.

o   Road Trip: As of yesterday, this is the latest update from Gary: I was able to reserve 40 tickets for the Ravens vs Dolphins game.  We have 2 full rows in section 328 which is in an upper corner near the Ravens side of the stadium.  Good news is that the escalators from the ground level are next to our section so there won't be a lot of stairs to climb.

The concession stands are nearby as well.  The ticket price is a little less than what I estimated but I am waiting to get a confirmation on the cost of the bus before making any changes to the balance owed for the game package (ticket, bus, shirt, koozie).  I hope to have an exact number in the next week or so and at that point I will let everyone know what the balance of their payment is.

As of right now, 19 of the 20 rooms have been booked and we have 38 people in our group.  I am still waiting for a couple deposits to come in but I suspect that slow mail service is the cause of the delay.

With the game being shown on Thursday night in primetime on national TV, this is turning into a big game with lots of interest and the trip should be a blast.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Gary

Funny Poop

·       Bob and his three golf buddies were out playing and were just starting on the back nine when Bob paused, looked down the fairway and began to sob uncontrollably.

The other three gathered around him and asked: "What's wrong?"

Bob looked down at his feet, sniffed and dried his eyes some, then apologized for his emotional outburst.  "Im sorry, I always get emotional at this hole - it holds very difficult memories for me."

One of his buddies asked, "What happened?  What could have gotten you so upset?"

Bob stared silently off in the distance, then said in a low voice,"This is where my wife and I were playing 12 years ago when she suddenly died of a heart attack; right at this very hole."

"Oh my God", the other golfers said.  "That must have been horrible!"

"Horrible?!  You think it`s horrible?"  Bob continued still very distressed.  "It was worse than that!  Every hole for the rest of the day, all the way back to the clubhouse, it was hit the ball, drag Alice, hit the ball, drag Alice..."

Funny Poop

·       Martin was being interviewed for a new job.  The person conducting the interview wanted to find out something about his personality, so he asked, "If you could have a conversation with someone, living or dead, who would it be?"

Without hesitation, Martin responded, "The living one, of course!"

·       A woman came up behind her husband while he was enjoying his morning coffee and slapped him on the back of the head.  "I found a piece of paper in your pant pocket with the name 'Marylou' written on it,"she said, furious.  "You had better have an explanation."

"Calm down, honey," the man replied.  "Remember last week when I was at the dog track?  That was the name of the dog I bet on."

The next morning, his wife snuck up on him and smacked him again.

"What was that for?" he complained.

"Your dog called last night."
