  • Dates to Remember: 
  • Tomorrow – Monthly Roost meeting, 7:30 pm @ the Blue Ox.  John Falcone's fiancee, Vicki Tillery, will be visiting tables from 7:00 to 7:30 asking members to sign up for the FOOD DRIVE on Saturday Nov.14.  There are two sign-up sheets - one for HARRIS TEETER Bayside near route #54 and one for Super Fresh WHITE MARLIN MALL Route 50 West O.C.  (Vicki has to leave by 7:30 and John is in Italy).  There is no Comedy Show tonight, so everyone is free to stay and watch the Ravens play New Orleans in the first preseason game.

  • October 24 - ROAD TRIPThe 2015 Road Trip to Phoenix, Arizona is set.  Please make sure that you let me know how many tickets to the game you will need.  I should get ticket prices this month and will put a hold on a block of tickets based on the total numbers I have received.  We are working on the T-shirt and group social and will have more info on those soon.  Gary 
  • November 17 - Wallops Island Tour: 11/17/15 leaving @ 8:30 am from behind Duffy's.  We have 24 people signed up & that makes a sellout. Thanks to everyone for the prompt responses. We will now start a wait list because there will surely be a few cancelations. 
The trip is now firmly booked & because of upfront money requirements, payment of $32 pp will be needed at the July 9th meeting. Pay in cash or check payable to Ron Apperson (not RR#44). Can also mail to Ron @ 37899 Swann Dr. Selbyville, De. 19975.  Partial refunds are expected to be made if at least 20 people pay. A refund of $5 pp if it stays a sellout. More details @ meeting.

  • OC RR44 2015 BOOZE CRUISE to benefit AGH Penguin Swim.  Tuesday, Sept 8th. 
  • Meet at MR Ducks.  HH prices on food and drinks.  5:45pm board “The Explorer” with Capt. Jack.  Boat leaves PROMPTLY at 6pm Will return about 10 pm.  Cash bar on boat. $3 beer, $4 wine $5 mixed drinks.   
  • First stop will be “De Lazy Lizard Happy hour prices on select drinks and food.  Start Boarding @ 7pm, Leave at 7:10pm.   
  • Second stop is “Captains Galley” Happy Hour prices on select drinks and food.  Start Boarding @ 8:10pm, Leave at 8:20pm.   
  • Third stop is the “Sunset Grill” Happy Hour prices on drinks and food.  Start Boarding @ 9:30pm, Leave at 9:40pm.  10pm-ish Return to MR Ducks.

  • November Thanksgiving Food DriveSaturday, November 14, 2015, 8 am TO 4PM.  As we recover for the down turn in the economy there is a great demand on food pantries for food and personal items. It is estimate that one third of local families participate in food bank programs. 
Volunteers from the Roost are asked to distribute fliers and collect nonperishable food and personal care items for adults and children at Harris Teeter, Selbyville and Super Fresh, West Ocean City on the above date.  The collected items will be given to the Salem United Methodist Church Pantry and Diakonia. 
So sign up to join the Ravens Team to fight HUNGER at August, September or October Meeting.

  • Entertainment Update: 
  • August 15 - Shorebirds Game.  If we have 20 or more members going, we will have a bus.  Ticket price will be set by final number of tickets needed at next Roost meeting and money will be collected at that time. Checks preferred.  IF YOU WON'T BE AT THE NEXT ROOST MEETING to pay for tickets, please email your commitment for the NUMBER of tickets you need BEFORE the meeting so we can determine whether we have the minimum of 20 tickets for the discount to: eric_waterman@comcast.net. 
  • September 19 - Tangier Island Tour.  We have 17 members registered to date.  If we have 25 members registered, tickets will be discounted from $27 to $22 and we may have a bus.  If you haven't registered or you're not sure, email eric_waterman@comcast.net.

  • The 2015 Preseason begins tomorrow night as the New Orleans Saints come to Town to meet the Ravens, 7:30 pm.

  • Tomorrow - An Evening with Lyle Lovett and His Large BandFreeman Stage.  A singer, composer and actor, Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums.  Coupled with his gift for storytelling, the Texas based musician fuses elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers.  Lovett has appeared in 13 feature films, and on stage and television.  Among his many accolades, besides the four Grammy Awards, he was given the Americana Music Association’s inaugural Trailblazer Award, and was recently named the Texas State Musician.  $45 – $85.  Seating is provided and assigned. 
  • Thursday, Friday & Saturday - Poor Girls Open - Ladies Only Billfish TournamentBahia Marina.  The Poor Girls Open is a ladies only billfish release tournament benefiting breast cancer research. There are also added entry levels for tuna and dolphin. 
This tournament was started by Capt. Steve Harman as a way for local waitresses and bartenders to have an affordable and fun competition while raising money for a very important cause.  The tournament continues to grow with over 100 boats entering.  Participation is not limited only to anglers as there are silent auctions, 50/50 tickets, T-shirts for sale, and other fun events helping to raise money for breast cancer research.  In the past 3 years alone, the Poor Girls Open has raised over $100,000 that was donated to the American Cancer Society.  Each angler or team may fish one out of three days. 
  • Friday - Masters of SoulFreeman Stage.  Masters of Soul is a celebration of the legendary songs and performers that defined Motown and soul music.  This exciting performance celebrates the music and careers of the iconic artists who had such a profound influence on the history of popular music.  Take the ultimate stroll down memory lane and relive the incredible harmonies and smooth moves made famous by many of the greatest recording acts of all time.  $17 for adults; kids are free.  BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair). 
  • Saturday (morning) - Pirate School at Freeman StageFreeman Stage.  Set sail with a madcap, swashbuckling comedy variety show for the whole family.  Touring nationwide, Pirate School! has captivated adventure-questing kids and their parents with it’s slapstick antics, adept magic, cartoon-like sound effects, eye-popping puppetry, eccentric props and active, full-audience participation.  During the show kids learn the finer points of mischief and become “good pirates” cooperating and carousing together while getting the chance to live out their dreams of the Golden Age of the Buccaneer!  Pirate School! is sure to satisfy the courageous corsair in all who dare to attend.  Welcome aboard!  BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair).  Free. 
  • Sunday - Somerset Plaza - Free Live Concerts & OC Cruzer Classic Car DisplaySomerset Plaza between the Boardwalk and Baltimore Ave.  Enjoy a new series of FREE special events and concerts on Somerset Plaza, located on Somerset Street between the Boardwalk and Baltimore Avenue in downtown Ocean City.  All events start at 3pm.  OC Cruzer cars will be on display during all music events.  Somerset Plaza is a semi-pedestrian street that is closed to all vehicular traffic during these special events.

  • Sunday - OC Beach Lights Spectacular | Lasers, lights, video, music and special effects, The Beach at North Division Street.  Returning to Ocean City this summer is the fun and exciting free event for the entire family, OC Beach Lights Spectacular!  These shows featuring lasers, lights, video, fireworks, music, and special effects all displayed on a 5 story tall giant beach ball will light up the beach at North Division Street.   The show is visible along the south end of the beach and boardwalk with the best viewing area on the Boardwalk at North Division Street.  Show times are 9:30 pm, 10:00 pm and 10:30 pm.   Sundays from May 24 - September 6, 2015. 
  • Sunday - Sundaes in the Park - Free Concert, Family Fun & Fireworks, Northside Park.  Outdoor live music, children's activities, ice cream and fireworks... what could be better?  Bring your picnic basket and beach chairs to Northside Park, located at 125th Street and the Bay for ice cream sundaes, live entertainment, children's activities and fireworks. All entertainment is free. Create your own ice cream sundae with delicious toppings for a small price. Listen to your musical favorites and watch the sunset over the beautiful Assawoman Bay.
