Entertainment:

Things being considered for future are a Bull Roast and a fall dance. These would be Roost fundraisers and open to family and friends.
Theresa is working on a Seacrets Distillery Tour, probably now after season.
Shorebirds game July 30. Hoodie giveaway.
Duckaneer Pirate ship on Aug 27th sold out. Duckaneer money MUST be paid by Aug mtg. If you cant be at mtg, mail money to Donna Chaplinski. 38329 Maple Lane Selbyville DE 19975 Make check payable to RR 44 for $35. Need it by Aug 17th.
Looking at dates for raft ups.
Still working on Christmas party. It will be on Dec 13th 12:30 to 4:30. We will have heavy finger foods like last year. No drink tickets. Do not have a price yet but should be around $45 to $50 pp with spouse or SO being $60 to $65 pp.
Would like to have Shrimp/Fried chicken dinner at Legion if we can get enough interested in it. Will have money and plant wheels. Date TBD.
Entertainment mtgs will be at 6:30 before every monthly Roost mtg. Please consider joining so we can plan more fun things to do in the coming year.

Our permanent meeting host is the American Legion Post 166 located at Coastal Hwy and 23^rd Street. At the request of the Legion, meetings will now be on the first Tuesday of each month.

Roost members please enter through the handicap door on the 23^rd street north side.

Be sure to sign in at the table at the door.

The general membership meeting starts promptly at 7:30. There may be some committee

meetings going on before that. However, members are invited and encouraged to arrive as

early as 6:00 to enjoy drinks and food specials The Post kitchen stays open until 7:30 on

our meeting nights to accommodate us. This is a great time to enjoy the facility and engage

with other members. The Post accepts cash only.

AGH Penguin Swim:

Please consider joining us for a fun evening cruise to 3 different water side restaurants and bars to raise money for the TidalHealth Atlantic (AGH) Penguin Swim which supports our local hospital. Share the attached flyer with friends and family, but space is limited to 50 passengers on the boat, so be sure to sign up early. There will be a cash bar onboard and tickets will be available for the raffle prizes.

This week in Ocean City, MD (around August 12–18, 2026) features free family events, a plein air art festival, a women’s fishing tournament for charity, live music, and fireworks.

Highlights by Day

Wednesday, August 12

Surfers Healing: One-day surf camp for children and young adults with autism (all day, mid-town).
Movies on the Beach: Free family-friendly film at the Carousel Resort Hotel area (North, ~8:30–10 PM). This is typically the last of the season.
Artists Paint OC Festival begins (runs through Aug 16): Plein air painters capture Ocean City scenes; organized by the Art League of Ocean City.
Free museum program: Knot Tying with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum, 10–10:30 AM).
Live music/nightlife: The Expendables (Summer Concert Series) on the Beach Stage at Seacrets; other acts/DJs at Seacrets, Fish Tales (Natty Night with DJ Wax), Fager’s Island, and more. Weekly comedy at Hooper’s Crab House/Sneaky Pete’s.
Capt. Steve Harman’s Poor Girls Open (all-women’s billfish release tournament benefiting breast cancer research) registration/Pink Party at Bahia Marina/Fish Tales area (tournament fishing mainly Aug 13–15).

Poor Girls Open fishing days and weigh-ins at Bahia Marina.
Free museum programs: Land, Sea & Sky (Friday) and Aquarium Feeding (Saturday), both ~10–10:30 AM at the Life-Saving Station Museum.
Free Kids Craft Saturdays (ongoing through late August).
Nightlife and live music at Seacrets, Fager’s Island, and other spots.

Sunday, August 16

Sundaes in the Park with Fireworks: Free concert (7–9 PM at Northside Park, ~125th/127th Street and the bay) featuring Kittyback (classic & country rock), kids’ activities, ice cream for purchase, and fireworks afterward.
OC Cruzers Car Show on Somerset Plaza (3–6 PM): Classic cars, hot rods, live music/DJ—family-friendly and free.
Artists Paint OC wraps up.

Ongoing / Other Notes

Free summer programs continue most mornings at the Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum on the Boardwalk.
Boardwalk, beach, and bay activities are in full swing (amusement parks, miniature golf, water sports, etc.).
Nightlife is active almost every night at places like Seacrets, Fager’s Island, Fish Tales, and others with DJs and live bands.
Ghost walks and similar tours run regularly.

Funny Poop

A man goes to visit his 85-year-old grandpa in the hospital.

"How are you grandpa?" he asks.

"Feeling fine," says the old man.

"What's the food like?"

"Terrific, wonderful menus."

"And the nursing?"

"Just couldn't be better. These young nurses really take care of you."

"What about sleeping? Do you sleep okay?"

"No problem at all --- nine hours solid every night. At 10 o'clock they bring me a cup of hot chocolate and a Viagra tablet, and that's it. I go out like a light."

The grandson is puzzled and a little alarmed by this, so he rushes off to question the Nurse in charge. "What are you people doing?" he asks. "I'm told you're giving an 85-year-old Viagra on a daily basis. Surely that can't be true?"

"Oh, yes," replies the nurse. "Every night at 10 o'clock we give him a cup of chocolate and a Viagra tablet. It works wonderfully well. The chocolate makes him sleep, and the Viagra stops him from rolling out of bed."
