Ravens Kick Off OTAs

Joe Flacco, Ravens Kick Off OTAs

Quarterback Joe Flacco said he will be attending the team’s OTAs and minicamp.

The Ravens kicked off their organized team activities with their offensive leader under center.

Quarterback Joe Flacco plans on being a constant participant this offseason despite his ongoing contract negotiations.

“Yeah, I’m going to be here for OTAs and for minicamp,” Flacco said Tuesday afternoon.

The Ravens had a number of veterans report to the voluntary practice, including wide receiver Anquan Boldin, fullback Vonta Leach, offensive tackles Bryant McKinnie and Michael Oher, safety Bernard Pollard and cornerback Lardarius Webb.

It’s significant that Flacco reported, and plans to continue to show up, because star players in the midst of contract talks don’t often choose to do so.

Meanwhile, in Fantasy Land...

Boy, those talking heads over at ESPN must really have nothing better to do; four of them got together and predicted the NFL Power Rankings for four years from now!  That's right, these experts (Dilfer and Kiper are two of them) tell us what the teams are going to be like in 2015.  Please.  Anyway, if you're in to this sort of thing, the rest of the article (or at least the AFC North part) is here.

Two Team Race...

...and not the Steelers???

The AFC North is usually considered a two-way race.

It could wind up that way again this year, but ESPN analysts predict the Pittsburgh Steelers will not be one of the top two contenders. Instead, they see the Cincinnati Bengals and Ravens dueling for the division crown.
ESPN analysts Herm Edwards, Bill Polian and Marcellus Wiley all believe the Steelers will finish third.

See the rest here.

·         A kindergarten class had a homework assignment to find out something 'exciting' and relate it to the class the next day.

When the time came to present what they'd found, the first little boy the teacher called on walked up to the front of the class and with a piece of chalk, made a small white dot on the blackboard and then sat back down.

Puzzled, the teacher asked him what it was.

"It's a period," he replied.

"I can see that," said the teacher, "but what is so 'exciting' about a period?"

"Darned if I know," he said, "but this morning my sister was 'missing' one.  Mommy fainted; daddy had a heart attack, and the boy next door joined the Army.

Dave is best known as the head of Coastal Lacrosse and was my daughter's coach at Beach Lacrosse when she started out.  We wish Dave a speedy recovery.

OCEAN CITY -- An Ocean City town employee was seriously injured when he and the scooter he was riding were struck by a turning vehicle.

At 2:43 p.m. Friday, a man was hit by a car when he was traveling in the southbound bus lane of Coastal Highway in the area of 45th Street, according to Ocean City Police spokeswoman Jessica Waters.

The man was West Ocean City resident Dave Quilter, who works with the Ocean City maintenance department, according to Public Works Director Hal Adkins.

Make Your Ravens Offseason Plans...

May 22-24, May 29-31, June 4-7: The Ravens will hold a series of three-day organized team activities (OTAs), which are voluntary. Even though they are voluntary, the OTAs are often well attended by the veterans.
In between the OTAs, the offseason conditioning program and rookie football schools will continue throughout May and June, so players will still be in the team’s facility for much of that time.
June 12-14: The Ravens will hold a mandatory three-day minicamp for the entire team.  This is the first offseason activity veterans are required to attend.
July 16: 4 p.m. is the deadline for franchise players to sign their tenders before the 2012 season. That means that running back Ray Rice and the Ravens need to work out a long-term deal by this date or he will have to the play the entire season under the one-year franchise tag. With a number of franchise players around the league still not signed, expect this to be a busy day in the NFL.
July 21: Training camp is tentatively scheduled to open this weekend, with rookies, quarterbacks and injured players reporting for their first practice. Training camp will be held at the team’s facility in Owings Mills.
July 25: Training camp opens for the entire team, as the remaining veterans are scheduled to arrive on this date. The first full team practice will take play on July 26.
Aug. 4: The Ravens will hold an open practice for fans at M&T Bank Stadium. The event is free and open to the public.
Aug. 9: The preseason officially begins. The Ravens open their preseason schedule on a Thursday night in Atlanta.
Aug. 12: The Ravens will hold an open practice at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. This event is free and open to the public.
Aug. 19: The Ravens will hold an open practice at Stevenson University Mustang Stadium in Owings Mills. This event is also free, but tickets will be required to attend.
Sept. 10: The Ravens open the 2012 season on Monday Night Football at M&T Bank Stadium against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Happy Birthday Number 5!

No offense to Joe Flacco, but there's only one #5 in Baltimore, and his name is Brooks.  Arguably the greatest third baseman to ever lace up the spikes, he was my boyhood baseball idol.  When I played third I felt I was Brooks; I held my glove the same way, brushed stones away with my foot the same way.  My all time favorite Oriole and it's not even close.  So Happy Birthday Brooksie, and thanks for the memories!

How to be Happy

Here is a list of 15 things which, if you give up on them, will make your life a lot easier and much, much happier. We hold on to so many things that cause us a great deal of pain, stress and suffering – and instead of letting them all go, instead of allowing ourselves to be stress free and happy – we cling on to them. Not anymore. Starting today we will give up on all those things that no longer serve us, and we will embrace change. Ready? Here we go:

Cruisin' Weekend!

I love Cruisin' weekend!  In honor, I wanna post a picture of my first car...it actually not my actual car, but a picture I found on the Internet that looks just like my first car, except mine had black interior:

It's a 1978 Carmine Red Z28.  I went to work when I was 15 at the Middleborough Inn and worked there all through high school.  I had use of my Dad's Plymouth station wagon for work and rode the bus to school (really!).  By the time I graduated I had saved enough to buy her.  It was used and a year old but beautiful.  I think it cost $5995.  Then one day a lady in a big Cadillac smashed into her and drove her into a concrete bridge abutment (I wasn't in it...it's a long story).  Did $4200 worth of damage and it was in the shop for months...never was the same after that.  Then wife and baby came along and I needed a more practical family vehicle so I sold her.  It sure was nice though...

Enjoy Crusin' Weekend.  I'll be hanging around watching all the cars cruise up and down Coastal Highway.  If you see me say hi!

Funny Poop
·         Three men from different countries were talking about their sex lives.
The Italian says, "Last week, my wife and I had great sex.  I rubbed her body all over with olive oil, we made passionate love, and she screamed for five full minutes at the end."
The Frenchman boasts, "Last week when my wife and I had sex, I rubbed her body all over with butter.  We then made passionate love and she screamed for fifteen minutes".
The Jewish man says, "Well, last week my wife and I also had sex.  I rubbed her body all over with chicken fat.  We made love, and she screamed for over six hours."
The Italian and Frenchman were stunned.  They asked, "What could you have possibly done to make your wife scream for six hours?"
The Jewish man says, "I wiped my hands on the bedspread!!!"
·         What is a Cat?
Cats do what they want.  They rarely listen to you.  They’re totally unpredictable.  When you want to play, they want to be alone.  When you want to be alone, they want to play.  They expect you to cater to their every whim.  They’re moody.  They leave hair everywhere.
Conclusion: They’re tiny women in little fur coats.
What is a Dog?
Dogs spend all day sprawled on the most comfortable piece of furniture in the house.  They can hear a package of food opening half a block away, but don’t hear you when you’re in the next room.  They can look dumb and lovable at the same time.  They growl when they are not happy.  When you want to play, they want to play.  When you want to be alone, they want to play.  They leave their toys everywhere.  They do disgusting things with their mouths and then try to give you a kiss.
Conclusion: They’re tiny men in little fur coats.
