Weekly Poop 3/1/17

Roost #44 Poop
  • Dates to Remember:
    • TomorrowEntertainment Committee Meeting
    • Saturday, March 11 – St. Paddy’s Day Parade
    • Friday, April 28 – Harrington Trip
    • Friday, June 2 – 20th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament
  • Road Trip 2017 – The Ravens game in London will be well represented by RR44. There are 24 people going on some combination of 3 trip options, plus a couple more who have made their own travel arrangements but will be at the game with us. If anyone is still interested, we MAY be able to add a few to the package and the price will probably be higher, but let me know ASAP.
Now that we have the London trip together, I am starting work on a possible trip to Nashville. I need to get a good idea of how many members are interested in going, so please let me know by email and I will have a sign up sheet at the Feb. meeting. I am looking at two options and will let the group decide which one they prefer after we have all the details.
    1) I will order the game tickets, reserve a block of rooms as we have done in the past, letting everyone call to make their own reservations and book their own airfare. There are a number of hotels right downtown that are convenient for walking to the stadium, restaurants, bars and entertainment areas. Downtown Nashville is very easy to navigate by foot and their are plenty of cabs if you need them.
    2) I will get Fandeavor to give us a price on a trip that will include airfare, hotel, game ticket and transportation to and from the airport.
Hopefully we will have more to cheer about this season.
    Thanks, Gary.
  • Dues: Dues ($30 per person) are now past due. If you have not done so and plan to remain a member, please make your check payable to Ravens Roost #44 and mail to me at 126 Pine Tree Rd., Ocean City, MD 21842 as soon as possible to avoid being dropped from the membership roll. If you have any questions please e-mail me at jelder10@verizon.net. Don't forget that we are looking for a replacement for me as membership chairperson. Let one of the officers know if you're interested. Jo Ann.
  • Scholarship Golf: There will be a 20th annual scholarship golf tournament this year. Any members who would like to help out can sign up for the golf/scholarship committee at this weeks meeting.
The tournament will be held at the Ocean Pines Golf and Country Club on Friday June 2, 2017. Cost per golfer is $115 and $460 for a team of 4. Includes Golf, Practice range, Golf Awards Luncheon Banquet, Continental breakfast, Gift bag, 2 on-course beverage coupons, $500 Putting Contest, $250 Cash Raffle and kegs at the turn and at the luncheon.
Also, there are sponsorships available: Signature Sponsor ($2,000) includes 2 team entries, 4 tee signs, and tournament banner and tournament banquet recognition. $1,400 without team entries. Major Sponsor ($1,000): 1 team entry, 2 tee signs, and tournament banner and tournament banquet recognition. $700 without team entry. Tee Sign Sponsors-$100.
The committee is also looking for gift cards and new merchandise for the event.
With the $14,200 we will be awarding in scholarships in June 2107, the Roost will have awarded over $160,000 during the lifetime of our grants. Please help us out any way you can to support this cause.
Go HERE for all the info, including sign up sheets.
Thanks, Marc Grimes & Don McMullen, Co-Chairs.
  • Convention: The Annual Convention of the Council of Baltimore Ravens Roosts will be held at the Castle in the Sand Hotel beginning Thursday, June 1 through Sunday, June 4, 2017. The theme this year is "Stark Raven Mad". The registration fee is $60 per adult and $25 per youth (ages 6-20). The form will available at the March meeting.
All registrations must be received by our meeting on April 13. Your registration includes beer and soda Thursday evening, all day Friday and Saturday, and food catered by Beefalo Bob on Friday and Saturday. You will also receive a very nice souvenir package. You will be entitled to participate in any convention-sponsored activities, such as the dunk tank, bingo, scavenger hunt, horseshoes, volleyball, corn holes, crazy hat parade, etc. I will also have a tentative schedule at our meeting. Sign-up sheets for the activities will be available at the April meeting.
I have order forms for tee shirts, tank tops, and hoodies. Prices range from $11 for tees to $28 for hoodies. Colors are ash, purple, and white for men’s tees and tanks; gray, purple, and white for ladie’s tees and tanks, and ash and purple for hoodies. Eric will bring a tee to the meeting for everyone to see. Of course, you don't have to attend the convention to purchase a shirt. Checks for the convention and/or tees are to be made out to Ravens Roost 44.
Mary will have information on the parade. Please plan to attend as a spectator if you are unable to walk in the parade.
This is a great time to sit down, relax and get to know your fellow Roost members and to interact with members of Roosts from all over Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania. Anyone who has attended in the past will tell you what a great time it is. If you have any questions about any part of this, please e-mail me at jelder10@verizon.net, or call me at 410-251-4360. Thanks for your attention. Jo Ann.
  • Penguin Swim:

  • Entertainment Committee: The next meeting of the Entertainment Committee will be Thursday, March 2nd at 6:00 pm at The Original Green Turtle. Funny Poop
  • After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to an old fisherman. "I am Jesus and I have returned to show God's love and power."
"No, you're not Jesus. Go away! You're scaring all the fish," answered the old fisherman.
"I see you are full of doubt. What would you have me do to show who I am?"
"Walk across the river," the old fisherman tells Jesus. Jesus starts walking across the river, but he sinks and disappears under the water. After he swims back to shore, the old fisherman says to him, "See, you're not Jesus. You can't walk on water!"
Jesus responds, "Well, I used to be able to do it until I got these holes in my feet!"
  • It was a stifling hot day and a man fainted in the middle of a busy intersection.
Traffic quickly piled up in all directions, so a woman rushed to help him.
When she knelt down to loosen his collar, a man emerged from the crowd, pushed her aside, and said, "It's all right honey, I've had a course in first aid."
The woman stood up and watched as he took the ill man's pulse and prepared to administer artificial respiration.
At this point she tapped him on the shoulder and said, "When you get to the part about calling a doctor, I'm already here."
