Road Trip 2017 – The Ravens game in London will be well represented by RR44. There are 24 people going on some combination of 3 trip options, plus a couple more who have made their own travel arrangements but will be at the game with us. If anyone is still interested, we MAY be able to add a few to the package and the price will probably be higher, but let me know ASAP.Now that we have the London trip together, I am starting work on a possible trip to Nashville. I need to get a good idea of how many members are interested in going, so please let me know by email and I will have a sign up sheet at the Feb. meeting. I am looking at two options and will let the group decide which one they prefer after we have all the details.1) I will order the game tickets, reserve a block of rooms as we have done in the past, letting everyone call to make their own reservations and book their own airfare. There are a number of hotels right downtown that are convenient for walking to the stadium, restaurants, bars and entertainment areas. Downtown Nashville is very easy to navigate by foot and their are plenty of cabs if you need them.2) I will get Fandeavor to give us a price on a trip that will include airfare, hotel, game ticket and transportation to and from the airport.UPDATE: I have looked at several hotel options and have looked at gameday ticket prices, but cant really get a hard number till the date come out in April. Will have details at the April meeting.Hopefully we will have more to cheer about this season. Thanks, Gary.

Entertainment: The Entertainment Committee would like you to join them for the following upcoming events:
-
Saturday April 8, 2017: Meet on the boardwalk at 26th Street (where the boardwalk ends and the tram turns around) at 9am for a boardwalk bike ride. We will ride down the boards and then back to Barn 34 (34th Street and Coastal Highway) for breakfast at approximately 10 am. Don’t like to ride bikes? Then just meet us for breakfast at 10 am!
-
Friday April 28, 2017: Harrington Trip - see Mary Kendall’s write up for details and contact Mary for reservations.
-
Friday May 12, 2017: We are taking a bus trip to visit 3 local breweries for beer tasting! We will leave the parking lot at Rose’s on 113 at 12 noon and travel to 16 Mile Brewery in Georgetown DE for a tour of the brewery and beer tasting; then to 3rd Wave Brewery in Delmar where we’ll enjoy beer flights for $3.50 (that’s 1/2 price of usual) and a food truck will be present if you are hungry; then off to Tall Tales in Parsonsburg, MD for more beer tasting and food. We should be back to the Rose’s parking lot by 6pm. Cost for the trip is $25.00 if we fill the bus - this includes the bus trip and a tip for the driver. If we have less than 23 people, the cost per person will increase. Food and beverages are on you. You may bring a small cooler if you wish which fits under your seat. This is a small bus so there is no bathroom on the bus - but the breweries all have facilities and are less than 45 minutes apart. The trip is limited to 23 people so don’t miss out, sign up soon. If we have more than 23 people, you’ll be put on a waiting list and filled in if there are drop outs. If this is a popular trip, we can do it again later in the spring or fall. Donna Chaplinski will have sign up sheets at the March meeting. Payment will be due by the April 13 meeting.

Annual Picnic, Sunday July 9, 2017 - 12pm to 5pm - White Horse Park Pavilion, Ocean Pines, MD. This year’s theme will be a Hawaiian Luau complete with a whole roasted pig (by Emmings). Menu will also include fried chicken, baked beans, cole slaw and corn on the cob, beer and soda. Desserts to be determined. Girls and guys — Wear your ugliest Hawaiian shirt end enter the Ugly Hawaiian Shirt Contest - details later on that, but start scouring your closet for that one shirt you haven’t worn in public for a while! Come play Bocce ball and horseshoes with us. If you have a corn hole game or any other fun picnic games, bring them to share. In order to ensure that we have enough food and drinks, sign up and payment for the picnic will begin at the April meeting. We ask that Roost 44 members pay $10 each and that fee will be returned to them at the picnic. Non-members who are immediate family (this includes grandchildren) are welcome to attend and will pay $10 each, which will not be returned to them.

A
woman takes her 16-year-old daughter to the doctor. "Okay,
Mrs. Jones, what's the problem?"
The mother says, "It's my daughter, Debbie. She keeps getting these cravings, she's putting on weight, and she is sick most mornings."
The doctor gives Debbie a good examination, then turns to the mother and says, "Well, I don't know how to tell you this, but your Debbie is pregnant--about four months would be my guess."
The mother says, "Pregnant?! She can't be, she has never been left alone with a man! Have you, Debbie?"
Debbie says, "No mother! I've never even kissed a man!"
The doctor walked over to the window and stared outside. About five minutes passed before the mother said, "Is there something wrong out there, doctor?"
The doctor replied, "No, not at it. It's just that the last time anything like this happened, a star appeared in the east and three wise men came over the hill. I'm not going to miss it this time around!"
