Roost #44 Poop
  • Please note: The June and July Meetings will be at OC 360 and the August and September Meetings will be at The Big Easy on 60.
  • DO NOT bring plastic bags for Diakonia to the April 13th Roost meeting. Eric won't be there to collect them.
  • Public ticket sales for the Freeman Stage are now on sale. There is a new ticket website this year and would strongly suggest going to freemanstage.org to familiarize oneself with the 2017 FAQ's. Procedure's are somewhat different than in the past. Also, Justin Tucker will be appearing at the Stage on Sunday June 18. It will be a good time to break out the Raven's wear.

If you have not done so and plan to remain a member, please make your check payable to Ravens Roost #44 and mail to me at 126 Pine Tree Rd., Ocean City, MD 21842 as soon as possible to avoid being dropped from the membership roll. If you have any questions please e-mail me at jelder10@verizon.net. Don't forget that we are looking for a replacement for me as membership chairperson. Let one of the officers know if you're interested. Jo Ann.
  • Scholarship Golf: There will be a 20th annual scholarship golf tournament this year. Any members who would like to help out can sign up for the golf/scholarship committee at this weeks meeting.
The tournament will be held at the Ocean Pines Golf and Country Club on Friday June 2, 2017. Cost per golfer is $115 and $460 for a team of 4. The committee is also looking for gift cards and new merchandise for the event.
With the $14,200 we will be awarding in scholarships in June 2107, the Roost will have awarded over $160,000 during the lifetime of our grants. Please help us out any way you can to support this cause.
Go HERE for all the info, including sign up sheets.
Please remember to bring liquor, wine and beer at the April and May meetings for the Scholarship Golf Event basket of cheer. If you forget, cash donations are accepted as well.
Thanks, Marc Grimes & Don McMullen, Co-Chairs.
  • Convention: The Annual Convention of the Council of Baltimore Ravens Roosts will be held at the Castle in the Sand Hotel beginning Thursday, June 1 through Sunday, June 4, 2017. The theme this year is "Stark Raven Mad". The registration fee is $60 per adult and $25 per youth (ages 6-20). The form will available at the March meeting.
All registrations must be received by our meeting on April 13. Your registration includes beer and soda Thursday evening, all day Friday and Saturday, and food catered by Beefalo Bob on Friday and Saturday. You will also receive a very nice souvenir package. You will be entitled to participate in any convention-sponsored activities, such as the dunk tank, bingo, scavenger hunt, horseshoes, volleyball, corn holes, crazy hat parade, etc. I will also have a tentative schedule at our meeting. Sign-up sheets for the activities will be available at the April meeting.
I have order forms for tee shirts, tank tops, and hoodies. Prices range from $11 for tees to $28 for hoodies. Colors are ash, purple, and white for men’s tees and tanks; gray, purple, and white for ladie’s tees and tanks, and ash and purple for hoodies. Eric will bring a tee to the meeting for everyone to see. Of course, you don't have to attend the convention to purchase a shirt. Checks for the convention and/or tees are to be made out to Ravens Roost 44.
Mary will have information on the parade. Please plan to attend as a spectator if you are unable to walk in the parade.
This is a great time to sit down, relax and get to know your fellow Roost members and to interact with members of Roosts from all over Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania. Anyone who has attended in the past will tell you what a great time it is. If you have any questions about any part of this, please e-mail me at jelder10@verizon.net, or call me at 410-251-4360.
Anyone who would like to participate in any of the convention events should see me before or after the April meeting. The activities are: karaoke, volleyball, horseshoes, cornholes, dunk tank, convention quest (scavenger hunt), crazy hat contest, miniature golf (one team of 2 only), and bingo. You must be registered for the convention to take part.
Volunteers are needed to help set up horseshoes, cornholes, bingo, food, etc. for which you need to be registered. They are asking for only an hour or two per person. Please let me know if you can help.
Volunteers are also needed for the parade. You do not need to be registered to help with that. Again, let me know if you're interested. Thanks, Jo Ann.
  • Convention Parade: Our parade entry this year is going to be a great one. We can't reveal the theme on the internet because of prying eyes--it's a secret! Take our word for it - it's a good one and will generate a lot of attention. If you are interested in walking in the parade, please contact Mary Kendall at mary.kendall@merck.com as soon as possible so we can get the costumes together. We'll tell you all about it at the next meeting, but, again, need your names ASAP. If you have any questions, contact Mary or Jo Ann Elder at jedler10@verizon.net.
  • Penguin Swim:

  • Entertainment: The Entertainment Committee would like you to join them for the following upcoming events:
    • Friday April 28, 2017: Harrington Trip - Harrington Trip Bus is almost full so if you are interested in going please contact Mary Kendall or Joann Elder.
    • Friday May 12, 2017: We are taking a bus trip to visit 3 local breweries for beer tasting! We will leave the parking lot at Rose’s on 113 at 12 noon and travel to 16 Mile Brewery in Georgetown DE for a tour of the brewery and beer tasting; then to 3rd Wave Brewery in Delmar where we’ll enjoy beer flights for $3.50 (that’s 1/2 price of usual) and a food truck will be present if you are hungry; then off to Tall Tales in Parsonsburg, MD for more beer tasting and food. We should be back to the Rose’s parking lot by 6pm. Cost for the trip is $30.00 if we fill the bus - this includes the bus trip only. A tip for the driver will be collected on the bus. If we have less than 23 people, the cost per person will increase. Food and beverages at the breweries are on you. This is a small bus so there is no bathroom on the bus - but the breweries all have facilities and are less than 45 minutes apart. The trip is limited to 23 people so don’t miss out, sign up soon. If we have more than 23 people, you’ll be put on a waiting list and filled in if there are drop outs. Payment will be due by the April 13 meeting.
    • Annual Picnic, Sunday July 9, 2017 – Details to follow.
    • 7:00pm Shorebirds Game - Thursday 7/27/17. We have verbally booked the Hard ball Cafe (same as last year) for a "Thirsty Thursday" game again with a giveaway of Shorebird Visors. Pint beers will be $2 + a free buffet of grilled burgers & hot dogs, BBQ chicken legs, baked mac/cheese, watermelon, popcorn, pickles & sliced cheese on the side, water, tea, & lemonade. We will have a reserved section of tables & chairs behind home plate.
The total cost will be $28pp which includes all the above + game ticket. We will also have the same bus as last year that will be an additional cost of about $5pp for those choosing that option. The bus will pick us up behind MB Shopping Center about 5:15 & return @ game's end.
So far we have 34 signed up for the game with 27 going by the bus. This event is open to friends & family - last year 53 people had a great time & 30 took the bus. Lets get some more people going to make it even better!
The Shorebird contract was officially signed; so money needs to be collected for the down payment. Cash or checks payable to Ron Apperson can be paid at the April 13th meeting. The rest of the time line follows:
      • Meeting on June 8th - Last day to sign up & pay for tickets to comply with contract

Funny Poop
  • Once there was an old man sitting on a bench in the park crying. A younger man walked up to him and asked “What’s wrong?”
The old man replied “I am married to a sexy 21 year old woman who gives me oral sex twice a day and we have sex the minute I get home and again right after dinner.”
The young man had a strange look on his face and asked “What’s so bad about that? It sounds like you have a great sex life.”
The old man replied “I can’t remember where I live!”
