Weekly Poop 7/15/2020

Roost #44 Poop
·         (Frank’s note: All items subject to change/cancellation)

·         From the Prez
Greetings to all…Hope all are having a safe and enjoyable summer so far even as we still are in the midst of this pandemic

After discussions with the board and from some of the Roost members it has been decided that this year’s Roost picnic will be postponed until next year…with the number of reported cases rising and a lot of uncertainty it was best to cancel..

I will contact Michele and see what is the next step for the football pool..

I will contact the American Legion in Ocean City about having a meeting there in September..I will talk with Ron Apperson and the AL manager on their safety guidelines..hopefully the numbers will start to drop as kids will be back in school or college…more information to follow

·         Dates to Remember:
o    9/10/2020 – September Roost Meeting
o    10/31/2020 – Bull/Oyster Roast
o    12/12/2020 – Christmas Party

·         Membership: We currently have 121 paid members.  Thanks all!

·         Wellness: Please call Marian Cicero @ 410.250.2501 or 443.880.0862 if you know of a Roost member in need of a message of encouragement or a sympathy card for a family member.  Please, no texts or emails.

·         House: As stated in the last three Poops, the Abbey Burger (which made an outstanding offer in the winter) has decided not to reopen in 2020 and will be evaluating 2021.  Our list of possible meeting venues has gotten shorter.  If considerations of social distancing continue on, then Denney's that was marginal before may now be off the list.  Alley Oops may now be marginal.

The Board of Directors met recently and recommended that any meetings we might have from now until the end of the season should be held at the American Legion.  They have been booked for May, June, July, August and Sept if they happen.

Voting for the "most of the time favorite" will of course be delayed and will likely include only the American Legion (available all year) and Alley Oops (off season only).  Others would likely be for emergencies only.  Our situation seems to be ever changing.

·         Scholarship Golf: I have listed below the Colleges our scholarship awardees will be attending this fall;

o    Kaylee Hall will be attending the University of Delaware, Newark, DE
o    Avery Congleton will be attending University of Mount Olive, Mount Olive, NC

o    Isabelle Kristick will be attending the University of Maryland, College Park, MD
o    Mikayla Denault will be attending Northwestern University, Evanston, IL

o    Abbi Nechay will be attending Monmouth University, West Long Branch, NJ
o    Saylor McGuiness will be attending College of Charleston, Charleston, SC

Pictures will be forthcoming.  Thanks, Don

·         Penguin Swim:  Until further notice, the Penguin Swim fundraising activities have been put on hold.  Once it is safe to do so, we will start planning events.

·         Apparel: I spoke to Bill on Monday Morning and he apologized for any delays, very short on employees.  The May orders will go out this week.  Bill’s cell phone if you have any questions is 410-430-7902.  Thanks, Rich.

·         Entertainment:
o    Entertainment meetings are suspended until further notice.

Christmas party booked for 12/12 from 6 to 10.  Upcoming are Duckaneer Pirate ship mid-August, trip to Tangier Island, hopefully away trip to Houston, depending on date, pub crawl on Kent Island in May, crab feast in October and a bull/oyster roast/Halloween party on 10/31, Capitols game in fall.  We'll keep all posted on dates.

o    Entertainment Schedule 2020:

§  12/12 – Christmas Party

Funny Poop
·         The fellow was being sold a very cheap suit.  “But the left arm is a lot longer than the right arm,” he complained.
“That’s why the suit is such a bargain,” the sales clerk explained.  “Just cock your left shoulder up a little, like this, and tuck this left lapel under your chin a bit, like this.”
“But the right leg is way too short,” argued the customer.
“No problem,” the sales clerk answered.  “Just keep your right knee bent a little at all times, walk like this, and no one will notice.  That’s why this suit is only $30.”
Finally, the fellow bought the suit, cocked his left shoulder into the air, tucked the suit’s left lapel under his chin, bent his right knee, and limped out of the store toward his car.  Two doctors happened along and noticed him.  “Good heavens,” the first doctor said to the second, “look at that poor crippled fellow.”
“Yeah,” answered the second doctor. “But doesn’t that suit fit great?”
