Greetings from the Prez:

Just a heads up that the Council convention starts next weekend May 28th - May 31st for those who signed up enjoy the festivities and the hospitality suite…

I will be presenting the (2) golf scholarship winners at the Indian River High School and another Roost member Elena McComas will be presenting the winners at Stephen Decatur High School..Congratulations to the Roost Golf Scholarship committee for their hard work on selecting (4) outstanding scholars/athletes..

I want take this opportunity to give out a big thanks and shout out to Don McMullen who has been instrumental in leading, organizing and advising on the Golf Scholarship commitee/tournament since I joined the Roost..Thank You Don..

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Marc Grimes who started the Golf Scholarship and tournament I believe 20 years ago..the Golf Scholarship has given our Ravens Roost #44 a well deserved recognition in the community..

I attended the Ravens Council meeting and the by law changes will be voted on at next month’s meeting…I will also let you all know the update on the Council’s full page ad in the Ravens 2026 yearbook..

I’m working with Ravens Roost #141 on attending the Delmarva Shorebirds game together on July 30th..please sign up if you’re planning to attend..it will be a fun times socializing with other Roost members..

Convention:

Thanks to all that have registered and paid for the convention. It should be a great time – let’s hope for good weather! And thanks to all that donated to the Bingo Basket!

Parade:

If you are not attending the convention, you can still come down to Baltimore Avenue on Saturday, May 30 and cheer us on. Parade starts 10am.

Apparel:

The Roost Online Store is open through the end of May with deliveries in June.

Entertainment:

Things being considered for future are a Bull Roast and a fall dance. These would be Roost fundraisers and open to family and friends.
Theresa is working on a Seacrets Distillery Tour, possibly early June.
Summer Picnic July 11th from 12 to 4 at the East Sussex Moose. Picnic food provided, 2 drink tickets per member. Price to be determined.
We had a request from Panthers about group tickets for game. Working on a trip.
Shorebirds game July 30. Hoodie giveaway. We need 30 to make it happen. Only 10 signed up so far.
Duckaneer Pirate ship is set for Aug 27th 6 to 8pm. Price will depend on how many people we can get. We have 29 signed up so far.
Looking at dates for raft ups.
Christmas party at Aloft on Sunday Dec 13th 12:30 to 5. 1pm game against the Tampa Bay Bucs on the big screen. Heavy finger foods, cash bar.
Entertainment mtgs will be at 6:30 before every monthly Roost mtg. Please consider joining so we can plan more fun things to do in the coming year.

House:

Our permanent meeting host is the American Legion Post 166 located at Coastal Hwy and 23^rd Street. At the request of the Legion, meetings will now be on the first Tuesday of each month.

Roost members please enter through the handicap door on the 23^rd street north side.

Be sure to sign in at the table at the door.

The general membership meeting starts promptly at 7:30. There may be some committee

meetings going on before that. However, members are invited and encouraged to arrive as

early as 6:00 to enjoy drinks and food specials The Post kitchen stays open until 7:30 on

our meeting nights to accommodate us. This is a great time to enjoy the facility and engage

with other members. The Post accepts cash only.

This week (May 18–24, 2026) in Ocean City, MD, is a relatively quiet shoulder period after Cruisin’ Ocean City (early May) and before Jeep Week (starting May 28) and Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a great time for beachgoing, boardwalk strolls, and lower crowds as the summer season ramps up.

Convention:

This year’s Ravens Roost Council Convention is Thursday, May 30 thru Sunday, June 2, once again at the Castle in the Sand. The cost of Registration is once again $70.

The convention is a great opportunity to share fellowship with Ravens fans from all over. Ravens Roost 44 will, as always, have a hospitality suite located at Room 12, ground level, right next to the Castle in the Sand office, for conventioneers to enjoy.

The council requires registrations and shirt orders to be turned in at the April 19^th Council meeting, so that means we have to have all of our registrations and orders finalized by yhe end of our April 11^th monthly meeting. This has now passed, but you can still participate in the convention, you will not be getting the goodie bag. Contact Donna Chaplinski (410-627-7697) for more information.

Also think about any events you would wish to participate – There is Karaoke, Cuponk (like beer pong), Corn Hole, Mini Golf, Lip Sync, Volleyball, Bingo, Crazy Hat Parade, and possibly Horseshoes.

The on-line store is closed. We will reopen June 1, 2024, with orders to be shipped in July.

Entertainment:

· Annual Roost 44 picnic Saturday, July 20th from 12 to 5 pm at Moose on Rt 20. Roost members will pay $12 pp and receive 3 drink tickets for beer only. Any beer after that is $2. Non members will pay $20, no drink tickets. We will have the usual hamburgers, hot dogs, Italian sausages and fixings. Donations of home made salads would be appreciated as well as home made desserts. Sign up sheet will be set out at April's mtg.

· Still working on next cruise.

· We have a few choices for away games. Decisions where to go will be made after schedule is released.

The only likely changes to the meeting schedule are for an outside summer meeting at our annual family picnic and for a conflict at the post during the October bike week.

During football season we are invited to the Post for a game viewing party with the big projection screen along with tailgating food and drinks for sale.
