Duckaneer Pirate ship on Aug 27^th. 9 people dropped out of Duckaneer trip. If anyone else wants to go, call Donna 410-627-7697. Thurs Aug 27th from 630 to 830 at Talbot St Water Sports. $35 per person

Still working on Christmas party. It will be on Dec 13th 12:30 to 4:30. We will have heavy finger foods like last year. No drink tickets. Do not have a price yet but should be around $45 to $50 pp with spouse or SO being $60 to $65 pp.
Would like to have Shrimp/Fried chicken dinner at Legion if we can get enough interested in it. Will have money and plant wheels. Date TBD.
Entertainment mtgs will be at 6:30 before every monthly Roost mtg. Please consider joining so we can plan more fun things to do in the coming year.

Our permanent meeting host is the American Legion Post 166 located at Coastal Hwy and 23^rd Street. At the request of the Legion, meetings will now be on the first Tuesday of each month.

Roost members please enter through the handicap door on the 23^rd street north side.

Be sure to sign in at the table at the door.

The general membership meeting starts promptly at 7:30. There may be some committee

meetings going on before that. However, members are invited and encouraged to arrive as

early as 6:00 to enjoy drinks and food specials The Post kitchen stays open until 7:30 on

our meeting nights to accommodate us. This is a great time to enjoy the facility and engage

with other members. The Post accepts cash only.

AGH Penguin Swim:

Please consider joining us for a fun evening cruise to 3 different water side restaurants and bars to raise money for the TidalHealth Atlantic (AGH) Penguin Swim which supports our local hospital. Share the attached flyer with friends and family, but space is limited to 50 passengers on the boat, so be sure to sign up early. There will be a cash bar onboard and tickets will be available for the raffle prizes.

This week in Ocean City, MD (around August 26–30/31, 2026) is a busy late-summer stretch with major festivals, free family events, live music, and ongoing beach activities.

Major Events

Ocean City Jeep Fest (Aug 27–30): Four days of Jeep culture with morning beach crawls (staging ~6:45 a.m., crawls ~7:45–9:15 a.m. from the Inlet), an obstacle sand course, Vendor Village and expo at the Convention Center (roughly 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Thu–Sat), Show & Shine, parties, and after-parties. Kickoff-style events begin earlier.
Summer Send Off (Aug 27–30, weather-dependent, mainly evenings): Free beachfront spectacle on the beach between Dorchester and 3rd Streets. Features illuminated hot air balloons (calm conditions) or giant kites (windier), starting around 4 p.m., with a laser show ~8:30–9:30 p.m. Hotel discounts (15–30% off at many spots) and other specials are available.
Ocean City Seafood Festival (Sat, Aug 29, ~1–8 p.m., Northside Park): Second annual event with 20+ local restaurants/food trucks serving steamed crabs, crab cakes, lobster rolls, oysters, and more; live music, cooking demos, drinks (beer/wine/cocktails), vendors, VIP options, and a kids’ zone. Kids 16 & under free; advance tickets around $15 (onsite higher). Portion of proceeds benefits the Oyster Recovery Partnership.
Sundaes in the Park with Fireworks (Sun, Aug 30, ~7–9 p.m., Northside Park): Free family concert series with live music (this week features an ’80s-themed act like Fast Times at Shermer High), ice cream, kids’ activities, and fireworks over the bay.

Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum free summer programs (daily ~10–10:30 a.m. through Aug 29):
- Wed 26: Knot Tying with Coast Guard Auxiliary
- Thu 27: All About Sharks / Discover Sharks
- Fri 28: Land, Sky & Sea
- Sat 29: Aquarium Feeding
  Plus ongoing Creature Feature.
Sunset Park Party Nights (Thu, Aug 27, 7–9 p.m., Sunset Park): Free live music on the bay (this week: Tranzfusion), plus Thursday Night Fireworks. Bring chairs; beer available for purchase.
Other free/low-cost: Farmers markets (various locations/days), library events (e.g., kids’ dinosaur program, movie night, trivia, D&D on Wed 26), yoga on the beach, ghost walks (ongoing), and boardwalk/beach access.

Entertainment & Nightlife

Bill Engvall comedy show (Sat, Aug 29, ~7 p.m., Performing Arts Center).
Liberty Calls! musical theater (Fri, Aug 28, ~7–9 p.m.).
Live music and parties at spots like Seacrets, Crawl Street Tavern, Purple Moose, and others (including Jeep Fest-related events). Various karaoke, trivia, bingo, and open-mic nights most evenings.

The beach, boardwalk, and typical summer activities (amusement rides, watersports, etc.) continue as usual. Check official sources like oceancity.com/events, ococean.com, or oceancityjeepfest.com for exact times, tickets, weather updates (especially for outdoor/laser/balloon events), and any last-minute changes, as schedules can shift. Hope all is well with everyone and enjoying the summer with family and friends..It’s hard to believe that we are halfway through the year and July is in the history books..

We have one more event before we say goodbye to July and that’s our Shorebirds game this coming July 30th..( not to mention my birthday) Hope to see all there who signed up..Roost #141 will join us at the picnic pavilion..it should be a good time by all..

Important update on our next meeting..it will be held on Monday AUGUST 17th @ 7:30..please mark your calendar as such..

Our picnic was held on July 11th at the Moose lodge and a good time was had by all..kudos to all the volunteers who help set it up (The Chaplinski’s..Beterman’s..Brown’s..and others..please forgive me if I forgot or missed your names..

On that note I will be looking and asking for a volunteers picnic committee at our next meeting..I will give information there..

As always please read all reports in the Caw for any updates and information..

As August rolls in we have some Roost events coming up so check out the entertainment committee’s report..

Still in need for entertainment ideas ..please come forward if you have something that would be fun times for the Roost ..

And FINALLY it’s that time of year that we waited for..RAVENS start their 2026 season with opening of training camp..our resident coach Steve Szlasa will give his updates and outlook as the season begins..

This week in Ocean City, MD (starting Wednesday, July 29, 2026) is peak summer with free family events, live music, beach sports, and nightlife.
Wednesday, July 29

Movies on the Beach (free, family-friendly): Lilo & Stitch (live-action) on the beach at the Carousel Resort Hotel (around 118th Street), starting at dusk (~8:30 pm). Bring blankets/chairs and snacks. Weather-dependent.

Free summer program at Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum: Knot Tying with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (10:00–10:30 am).

Ocean City Maryland Comedy Festival (“Crabs, Comedy, and Coastal Vibes”): Crab feast starts ~4 pm, showtime ~6:30 pm at Hooper’s Crab House & Sneaky Pete’s (ongoing Wednesday series).

Live music/DJs at various spots (e.g., DJ Billy T at Harborside, Bob Wilkinson at Skye Bar & Grille, open mic at Johnny’s Pizza & Pub, Natty Night with DJ Wax at Fish Tales).

Free museum program: Discover Sharks! (10:00–10:30 am at Life-Saving Station Museum).
Live music at venues like Harborside, Skye Bar, Sunset Grille.

Ongoing/always available: Beach and Boardwalk activities, ghost walks/tours, fishing, amusements (e.g., Trimper’s), and nightlife. The big White Marlin Open fishing tournament starts the following week (Aug 3–8).
