· Tonight – Ravens Rap returns! From Eileen Abeel: “The Ravens Rap show is now being taped by Comcast Spotlight. It will air on Beach TV on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays 2x a day. It is still being taped, at the same time, for radio for airing on WZBH, airing Pre - "Pre-Game" NFL GameDay Sundays. The TV show is just 1 hour, whereas the radio is still 1 1/2 hours. The show is being taped on Wednesdays 7:00 - 8:30 pm, starting September 7th, prior to 1st regular season game against Steelers, at The Blue Ox Bar & Grill 127th St. & Coastal Hwy. We will actually be starting the show about 7:15pm, because of the time constraints with Mike Bradley. It looks like we will be getting Bruce Laird probably for every show, instead of every other. There may be a few he can't make. John Gehrig & Tony Lombardi will be part of the show again, as well. The show will have specific timed breaks & subject matters, just to make it easier on editing the shows for television.”

Then, back on the bus to our last stop, The Blue Ox for a Ravens Pep Rally. Wear comfy shoes and bring cash because some places (Harbor Inn) don’t accept plastic. WEAR YOUR COLORS!
· Sunday – Opening Day! The Ravens open at home against those yellow and black inbreds from Pittsburgh. The bus usually leaves 5 ½ hours before game time, however this week THE BUS WILL LEAVE THE MONTEGO BAY SHOPPING CENTER @ 7 am. What time is it?!? GAMETIME!
· September 15 – Get Ready to Bring Some Money Home! HARRINGTON BUS TRIP is on Thursday, September 15th, 2011. Cost is $20.OO per person which includes $15.00 free play, a lunch buffet, and your bus seat. The 48 passenger Bus departs Montego Bay (130th street) at 8:30 am with a second stop at the Millsboro’s Roses Store on Route 113. Bus departs Harrington at 4pm. Guests are welcome. At the moment they will still honor our $99 a night rate if the reservation is booked under our block of rooms. You must contact Mike first in order to make your reservation. Mike will then notify Karen so you can make your reservation.
The package, excluding the hotel and travel expenses, will also include a 3-hour tailgate party, the water taxi ride to the tailgate party (you will have to pay for the ride back), a tee shirt and a koozie. The total cost will be between $125 and $140 a person depending on the seats Mike purchases from the Jaguars. If you do not want the package then you will have to purchase your own game day tickets. Unlike years past this will not be an al la carte trip.

· A defendant was on trial for murder. There was strong evidence indicating guilt, but there was no corpse. In the defence's closing statement, the lawyer, knowing that his client would probably be convicted, resorted to a trick.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I have a surprise for you all" the lawyer said as he looked at his watch. "Within one minute, the person presumed dead in this case will walk into this courtroom". He looked toward the courtroom door.
The jurors, somewhat stunned, all looked on eagerly. A minute passed. Nothing happened.
Finally the lawyer said "Actually, I made up the previous statement. But you all looked on with anticipation. I, therefore, put it to you that you have a reasonable doubt in this case as to whether anyone was killed, and I insist that you return a verdict of not guilty".
The jury retired to deliberate. A few minutes later, the jury returned and pronounced a verdict of guilty.
"But how?" inquired the lawyer. "You must have had some doubt. I saw all of you stare at the door". The jury foreman replied "Yes we did look... but your client didn't".
· An Australian travel writer touring Canada was checking out of the Spokane Hilton. As he paid his bill he asked the manager "By the way what's with the Indian sitting in the lobby? He's been there ever since I arrived".
"Oh that's Big Chief Forget-Me-Not" said the manager. "The hotel is built on an Indian reservation, and part of the agreement is to allow the chief free use of the premises for the rest of his life. He is known as Big Chief Forget-Me-Not because of his phenomenal memory. He is 92 and can remember even the slightest detail of his life".
The travel writer took this in and, as he was waiting for his cab, decided to put the chief's memory to the test.
"G'day, mate!" said the Aussie, receiving only a slight nod in return. "What did you have for breakfast on your 21st birthday?" "Eggs" was the chief's instant reply, without even looking up, and indeed the Aussie was impressed.
He went off on his travel writing itinerary, right across to the east coast and back, telling others of Big Chief Forget-Me-Not's great memory. One local noted to him that "How" was a more appropriate greeting for an Indian chief than "G'day mate".
On his return to the Spokane Hilton six months later, he was surprised to see Big Chief Forget-Me-Not still sitting in the lobby, fully occupied with whittling away on a stick.
"How!" said the Aussie. "Scrambled," said the chief.

Ocean City announces re-entry plan
Now that Hurricane Irene has passed Ocean City, Emergency Management officials
announce the re-entry plan. Re-entry for citizens will be conducted in two phases as
follows:
First phase: Property owners, tenants, business owners and their employees may reenter
with proper identification such as driver’s license showing local address
beginning at 9 a.m.
Second phase: Ocean City will be reopened to the general public at noon today.
The beach will be opened, but access to the surf will be restricted today.

Ocean City assesses community in aftermath of Hurricane Irene
Ocean City officials are now in the process of assessing the town in the wake of
Hurricane Irene and plan to reopen the community as soon as is possible. At daylight
a full assessment will be carried out. No injuries have been reported.
Power outages are still reported in some areas of the community. The wastewater
plant, which had been shut down as the storm approached, is in the process of being
put back into service.
The eye of Hurricane Irene passed Ocean City within 50 miles in the early morning
hours on Sunday. Localized flooding was reported as sustained winds reached 60
mph, with top wind speed recorded at 80 mph. Rainfall amount totaled 12 inches.
Ocean City will remain closed to all persons until a full damage assessment can be
made and any unsafe conditions secured.
All incoming traffic to Ocean City, Maryland, continues to be limited to emergency
personnel. No other vehicles will be permitted entry to the island, except by approved
authority (Mayor, City Manager and Emergency Services Director).

Hurricane Irene makes landfall in North Carolina,
Ocean City remains under a hurricane warning & tornado watch
Ocean City continues to monitor Hurricane Irene after it made landfall earlier this
morning near Cape Hatteras, NC. Ocean City remains under a hurricane warning and a
tornado watch. The tornado watch is in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday.
Easterly gale force winds should start affecting the area this morning at 11 a.m. with
storm force winds arriving around 5 p.m. and northeasterly hurricane force winds
arriving near 9 p.m. The highest wind speeds from Hurricane Irene should occur near
1 a.m. Sunday, when top sustained winds, from the north, could reach 79 mph with
gusts near 99 mph.
When sustained winds become 50 mph for 10 minutes or longer, emergency response
will cease until conditions are deemed safe.
Hurricane Irene is currently projected to pass by Ocean City at approximately 2 to 3
a.m. Sunday. Winds should decrease below hurricane force shortly thereafter.
Sustained winds will fall below gale force after 9 a.m. Sunday and generally be from
the north during this period of decreasing winds. Expect gusts above gale force level
for several more hours thereafter.
The total rainfall for the Ocean City area over the next three days is currently forecast
to be 8 to 12 inches. This can vary significantly as tropical storm and hurricane rainfall
is very difficult to predict.
Emergency management officials report the evacuation of Ocean City on Friday went
smoothly, with very few citizens electing to ignore warnings and remain in town.
The town’s emergency operations center is manned and will continue to monitor
Hurricane Irene.
All incoming traffic to Ocean City, Maryland, continues to be limited to emergency
personnel. No other vehicles will be permitted entry to the island, except by approved
authority (Mayor, City Manager and Emergency Services Director).

Hurricane Irene
Ocean City Emergency Management officials have initiated phase one of the hurricane action plan in preparation for Hurricane Irene.

UPDATE (8/25/11, 3:15 pm): Ocean City Emergency Management officials will initiate phase three of the hurricane action plan in preparation for Hurricane Irene. Phase three will go into effect at midnight tonight.
Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan has signed a proclamation declaring a local State of Emergency.
All persons other than identified emergency personnel are ordered to evacuate. Visitors are asked to return to their principle residences. Ocean City residents are asked to seek shelter elsewhere.
Utilizing the authority under a local State of Emergency, the Mayor is banning the sale of all alcohol in Ocean City and requests that all businesses close beginning at midnight.
All incoming traffic to Ocean City, Maryland, will be limited to emergency personnel. No other vehicles will be permitted entry to the island, except by approved authority (Mayor, City Manager and Emergency Services Director).
Ocean City Municipal Transportation System is providing transportation for special needs individuals. For special needs transportation, please call Ocean City Transportation at 410-723-1606. International student workforce evacuation continues and will be completed by tomorrow morning.
The Ocean City Government Cable Access Channel 4, the Ocean City website www.ocmdemergency.com, recorded emergency management line, 410-723-6666 and Ocean City advisory radio station 1670 AM will remain operational for further advisories.

Ocean City continues to monitor Hurricane Irene. Evacuation of the town continues and everyone is asked to be out of town by 5 p.m. today.
At 5 p.m. today public transportation ends.
The town’s wastewater treatment plant will be taken off line at 6 p.m. Saturday. Sewer service will be unavailable at that time. The town anticipates the system will be back in service late Sunday evening depending on impacts from the storm.
Emergency management officials advise residents to remove their vehicles from streets in the downtown area and other areas prone to flooding, and move them to higher ground. Route 90 eastbound is now closed to motorists. The Route 50 drawbridge openings end at 5 p.m.

Easterly gale force winds should start affecting the area on Saturday, August 27 at 10 a.m. with hurricane-force winds arriving around 6 p.m. and lasting for a period of eight hours. The highest wind speeds from Hurricane Irene should occur near 2 a.m. Sunday morning when top sustained winds, from the north, could reach 95 mph with gusts near 110 mph. Winds should decrease below hurricane force shortly thereafter.
Sustained winds will fall below gale force after 11 a.m. Sunday and generally be from the north during this period of decreasing winds. Expect gusts above gale force level for several more hours thereafter.
The total rainfall for the Ocean City area over the next three days is forecast to be 10 to 15 inches. This can vary significantly as tropical storm and hurricane rainfall is very difficult to predict.
Storm surge is expected to be six to eight feet above normal high tide cycles resulting in significant flooding in low-lying areas.
Mike Flanagan RIP
Former Orioles pitcher and general manager Mike Flanagan was found dead on his northern Baltimore County property, WBAL-TV 11 Sports Director Gerry Sandusky confirmed through multiple sources close to Flanagan. He was 59.

· Saturday, September 10 – RR #44 WCS Pub Crawl. Leave The Blue Ox @ 12 noon aboard the OC Bus ($3 all day-cheap!). 1st stop is the oldest bar in Ocean City, The Harbor Inn (est. 1935. Kelly was there for the first drink!), Somerset St. Bayside. 2nd stop will be the 2nd oldest bar in OC, The Bar (on the boardwalk). 3rd stop The Cork Bar, Wicomico St. Oceanside. 4th stop at The Purple Moose, and the 5th stop TBD. Then, back on the bus to our last stop, The Blue Ox for a Ravens Pep Rally. Wear comfy shoes and bring cash because some places (Harbor Inn) don’t accept plastic. WEAR YOUR COLORS!
· September 15 – Get Ready to Bring Some Money Home! The Raven Roost Bus trip to the Harrington Casino is scheduled for Thursday, September 15th, 2011. Cost is $20.OO per person which includes $15.00 free play, a lunch buffet, and your bus seat. The 48 passenger bus departs Montego Bay (130th street) at 8:30 am with a second stop at the Millsboro’s Roses Store on Route 113. Bus departs Harrington at 4pm. Guests are welcome. To sign up, call Paul and Trish at H# 302-436-9017. You will need to give Paul and Trish either your Harrington Player Card Number or your Birthday Date. Mail a check immediately after you sign up to 36977 Laws Points Rd , Selbyville , DE 19975 . Check is made out to Raven Roost #44. Sign up early and spread the word for those who don’t have a computer.
· October 21 thru 25, 2011 – Trip to Jacksonville, FL to see the Ravens take on the Jaguars. Rooms have been reserved @ the Crown Plaza Jacksonville Riverfront Hotel. Mike received an email from Karen Howe, the sales manager of the Crown Plaza in Jacksonville, stating that the rate for the weekend of the road trip is now $149 a night for any new group bookings. At the moment they will still honor our $99 a night rate if the reservation is booked under our block of rooms. You must contact Mike first in order to make your reservation. Mike will then notify Karen so you can make your reservation.
The package, excluding the hotel and travel expenses, will also include a 3-hour tailgate party, the water taxi ride to the tailgate party (you will have to pay for the ride back), a tee shirt and a koozie. The total cost will be between $125 and $140 a person depending on the seats Mike purchases from the Jaguars. If you do not want the package then you will have to purchase your own game day tickets. Unlike years past this will not be an al la carte trip.
· Saturday, November 5 – Post Halloween Costume Party, 7-11 p.m. at the Blue Ox. Menu: Chicken tenders, ham, turkey and pastrami wraps, steamed shrimp, meatballs, buffalo chicken dip with nacho chips, cheese and veggie tray, onion rings, brownies, cookies and soda (Beer and drinks at happy hour prices). Prizes for the best costumes: male, female and couple. Cost is $20 per person. Funny Poop
· Murphy, a furniture dealer from Dublin, decided to expand the line of furniture in his store, so he decided to go to Paris to see what he could find.
After arriving in Paris he visited with some manufacturers and selected a line that he thought would sell well back home. To celebrate the new acquisition, he decided to visit a small bistro and have a glass of wine.
As he sat enjoying his wine, he noticed that the small place was quite crowded, and that the other chair at his table was the only vacant seat in the house. Before long, a very beautiful young Parisian girl came to his table, asked him something in French (which Murphy could not understand), so he motioned to the vacant chair and invited her to sit down.
He tried to speak to her in English, but she did not speak his language. After a couple of minutes of trying to communicate with her, he took a napkin and drew a picture of a wine glass and showed it to her. She nodded, so he ordered a glass of wine for her.
After sitting together at the table for a while, he took another napkin, and drew a picture of a plate with food on it, and she nodded. They left the bistro and found a quiet cafe that featured a small group playing romantic music.
They ordered dinner, after which he took another napkin and drew a picture of a couple dancing. She nodded, and they got up to dance. They danced until the cafe closed and the band was packing up.
Back at their table, the young lady took a napkin and drew a picture of a four-poster bed. To this day, Murphy has no idea how she figured out he was in the furniture business.
