  • Tomorrow - At the Freeman Stage at Bayside - Darius Rucker, 8:00pm -10:00pm.  SOLD OUT! As the frontman of Hootie & The Blowfish, Darius Rucker was one of the most popular frontmen in mainstream pop/rock during the mid-’90s.  The band’s debut album, Cracked Rear View, was virtually inescapable in 1995, eventually selling more than 16 million copies, winning 2 Grammy Awards, and becoming one of the most successful albums of all time.  Rucker signed with Capitol Records Nashville in 2007 and released his country debut, Learn to Live, in 2008 which landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. His first record garnered three consecutive No. 1 singles and earned him the CMA New Artist of the Year Award. When Rucker returned to the studio with Frank Rogers to record his sophomore release, he penned 77 songs for the album with the last song written becoming the lead single, “Come Back Song.” The result was the chart-topping October 2010 release, Charleston, SC 1966, which has produced two No. 1’s with “Come Back Song” and “This.”  Rucker’s shows center around the music found on his country albums, but occasionally he will embrace his Hootie & The Blowfish heritage by turning “Let Her Cry” into a very sad, slow country tune or rely on the acoustic intro to “Hold My Hand” to really rile up the crowd before the sultry lyrics pour out. As many times as we’ve all heard those hits, the renditions he has created with his country band, The Carolina Grey Boys, create virtually unrecognizable versions of the monster hits. With country chart-toppers peppering the set, it’s rowdy crowd hits like “Family Tradition” and “Purple Rain” that truly showcase Rucker’s vocal prowess and remind you of just how deep his southern roots run.  Special Concert Event.  No carry-ins.  This just in: Get there early - The Stims will be opening for Darius Rucker @ 7 pm.

Our Campground Critter Encounter lets you enjoy an up-close visit with some of our Scales & Tales animals - and the best part is we bring the program to you! Gather your friends and family right at your home away from home and we’ll bring a group of feathered and scaled friends to meet you. You’ll learn about how these animals survive on and around Assateague Island and how you can help to protect wild animals. We’ll even have time for a photo-shoot with you and your new friends! Service charge applies.  Program is for groups up to 20 participants and is 30 minutes in length. For questions or to schedule your encounter in advance call (410) 641-2120 ext. 12 or email msochowski@dnr.state.md.us or you can sign up at the Nature Center during your visit. All ages welcome.

  • Saturday - At the Freeman Stage at Bayside - Michael McDonald, 8:00pm -10:00pm.  TICKETS NOW ON SALE! Two notes. That’s all it takes to recognize the voice of Michael McDonald. Distinctive and soulful, it is one of the most yearningly emotive instruments of our times. To this add formidable songwriting and keyboard skills, and you have an artist who has been a singular musical presence for four decades. From ‘70s-era Doobie Brothers classics such as “What A Fool Believes” and solo hits like “I Keep Forgettin’” through two highly-acclaimed Motown cover albums and recent genre-busting guest spots with alternative buzz bands Grizzly Bear and Holy Ghost, the five-time Grammy-winning McDonald is that rare thing in contemporary pop – an artist whose work is both timeless and ever-evolving.  Yet for all his varied accomplishments, McDonald has kept a modestly low profile. Shunning theatrics and trend-chasing, he has trusted in the power of his voice and a deep catalog of memorable songs to point the way through his long career. His distinct vocal style also made him one of the world’s most sought-after session singers. Beyond his hits with The Doobies, McDonald has lent his voice to records by an A-Z of artists, including Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Joni Mitchell and Vince Gill. During the ‘80s and ‘90s, his solo career zoomed from success to success on the wings of evergreen hits like “I Keep Forgettin’,” “On My Own” (a duet with Patti LaBelle) and the Grammy-winning duet with James Ingram “Yah Mo B There.”  With a career that encompasses five Grammys, numerous chart successes, personal and professional accolades, as well as collaborations with some of the world’s most prominent artists, Michael McDonald remains an enduring force in popular music.  Special Concert Event.  $55 per person, plus handling fee. These tickets will be in the rear of the Right Lawn section. This is an assigned seating event.  Tickets are only available at Will Call.  Seat assignments will be given by venue. She remains a bold and distinctive artist both on stage and on record, and now, after more than three decades in rock ‘n’ roll, she’s a bona fide living legend. Songs like “Love is a Battlefield”, “Hit Me with Your Best Shot”, “Heartbreaker”, “Promises In The Dark” and “We Belong” are as unforgettable now as they were at the dawn of MTV, when Pat emerged, fearless, fighting and forging a path for other female rock stars around the world.  Neil Giraldo has been a professional musician, producer, arranger and songwriter for over four decades now, changing the face of the pop charts throughout the 1980s with his collaborator, muse and wife, Pat Benatar. More than just an explosive steel-bending guitar player, Giraldo’s innovative vision helped him create the signature Benatar sound, from its inception. His impressive back catalog includes more than 100 songs written, produced, arranged and recorded for Benatar, as well as many hits he helped create for John Waite, Rick Springfield, Kenny Loggins, Steve Forbert, The Del Lords, Beth Hart and countless others.  Special Concert Event.  $45-85 per person, plus handling fee. • I was reading this article the other day, and it said, ‘The perfect way to spice up your love life is to make love in a car wash’.  Let me tell you guys from experience - no, it is not.  It’s also the perfect way to ruin a church fundraiser.
