Weekly Poop 2/29/2020

Roost #44 Poop
·         From the Prez
Greetings to all…I hope all is well with everyone as we will soon close out another winter.  When my wife and I joined the Roost back in January 2018 I never would have imagined that I would be writing in the Poop as the 11th President of Ravens Roost #44…it is quite an honor.  I want to thank Eric Waterman for helping me in this transition and look forward to working with the board members.

As we move forward, I would like to encourage the Roost members to get involved in the different committees and to usher in new members.  We have a lot of exciting events coming up this year (St. Paddy’s Day parade, the Golf Scholarship Tournament, Ravens Council Convention along with the Roost picnic…Shorebirds game and many other events) please read the Poop and the Caw for upcoming announcements and dates.

Just a reminder if you haven’t done so already please send in your membership dues to Susan.  All dues are required to be paid by April.

A reminder that the next Roost meeting will be held at the American Legion in Ocean City on March 12…please enter on the 24th St. side entrance as the front entrance is for American Legion members only…hope to see all there.

If you need to get in contact with me for any concerns my email address is rjm73054@gmail.com.

·         Good of the Roost:
o    Lee Baker passed this along:
Hi Frank,
Didn't know if you heard about this yet but this is great news for Bob and Joanne.  It's open to RR44 members, Elks and guests, not to the public.  I hope our Roost has an item or two we can donate for auction.
Please let our members know buddy.
Thanks,
Lee
Because you are involved in Ravens Roost 44 (assuming you are still active) …you know Joann and Bob Elder.  Elks Lodge 2645 is having a fundraiser for Joann and Bob on Sunday, 04/26/2020 at the lodge.  The cost per ticket will $10-$12...not yet finalized.
At the fundraiser there will be drawings, 50-50s, big wheel, etc.  Spaghetti dinner with salad and garlic bread as well as dessert
Can you/will you approach your roost about donating items that could be raffled off at the fundraiser?  Are there other organizations with whom you are involved that would consider donating?
Thanks for your help.  Peggie Ball

Funny Poop
·         A guy goes into a drugstore to buy condoms.
"What size?" asks the clerk.
"Gee, I don't know."
"Go see Sophie in aisle 4."
He goes over to see Sophie, who rubs his crotch, and yells, "Medium!"
The guy is mortified!  He hurries over to pay and leaves quickly.
Another guy comes in to buy condoms and gets sent to Sophie in aisle 4.  Sophie rubs him and yells,
"Large!"
The guy struts over to the register, pays, and leaves.
A high school kid comes in to buy condoms.
"What size?"
The kid embarrassedly says, "I've never done this before.  I don't know what size."
The clerk sends him over to Sophie in aisle 4.
She rubs him and yells,
"Clean up in aisle 4!"

Weekly Poop 2/12/2020

Roost #44 Poop
·         From the Prez
Next Roost meeting February 13th at American Legion Hall located between 23 @ 24 Streets.  You MUST enter at the side entrance on 24th St. side.  The front entrance is for American Legion members only.  The new officers and Board member will be sworn in at the meeting.  Details on the St. Paddy’s Day Parade on March 14th will be discussed too.

It has been my pleasure and honor to serve as the 10th President of Ravens Roost #44 for the last three years.  They have been exciting and challenging years as we weathered a large loss of members from the 2017 "Kneeling Incident" in London and we have been searching for a new "Home" since the Blue Ox closed in 2016.

But Roost #44 is a tough and resilient group.  And we continue to have fun along the way - the reason we all joined in the first place!  In 2017, we published our 20th Anniversary Yearbook which chronicled the major events of the Roost from 1998-2017.  Our two major charitable events, the College Scholarship Golf Tournament and the Penguin Swim for Atlantic General Hospital are still major fundraising events in Ocean City.  The Entertainment Committee continues to come up with new and exciting social activities.  Our membership has seen a great rebound with a number of new members in the last year or two.  And our new members have shown a great interest in getting involved.  That is a great sign!

I encourage all members to recruit more members.  Pick up a New Member Application at the Sign In Table at our monthly meetings.  Also at the Sign In Table, is a list of our committees and events that all members are invited to attend or join.  Membership in the Roost is like any other social group.  You get out of it what you put into it.  Do yourself a favor, learn more about all the Roost events and committees, especially the Entertainment Committee.  Then test the water by getting involved in one or more of them.  Also check out the Council of Raven Roosts online.  The Council is the umbrella of Roosts that we belong to.  The Council of Roosts are actually the descendants of the original Colt Corrals.

I want to thank all the officers and members who helped me over the last three years and the two years before that when I was Vice President.  A special thanks to Donna and Tony Chaplinski, Ron Apperson and Frank Berterman who helped me and taught me so much along the way.  Also thanks to new Vice President Don McMullen who helped me step in and keep the Golf Scholarship Tournament going.  (And thanks to Mike Grimes for sponsoring me back in 2006).  Finally, I could never thank Sandy Taras enough for all she does for the Roost.  Sandy is our Treasurer and she truly is the glue that holds the Roost together.

With Bob Munroe as our new President and Ronnie Staines as Chairman of the Board, and all the other new officers and directors, I know the Roost is in good hands.  It’s been a "Labor of Love" to serve as your President and I wish all Roost #44 members the very best in the years ahead!

·         Worried that they hadn't heard anything for days from the widow in the apartment next door, the mother said to her son, "Tony, would you go next door and see how old Mrs. Pierpoint is?"
A few minutes later, Tony returned.
"Well, is she all right?" asked the mother.
"She's fine, but she's rather annoyed with you," remarked Tony.
"At me?" the mother exclaimed. "Whatever for?"
Tony replied, "Mrs. Pierpoint said it's none of your business how old she is."
