Weekly Poop 6/3/2020

Roost #44 Poop
·         (Frank’s note: All items subject to change/cancellation)

·         From the Prez
Still waiting on the Governor’s decision to implement the next phase..it looks like this coming Thursday he will make an announcement.  If the next phase is announced there is a possibility that we can have a meeting at the American Legion either in June or July depending on capacity limitations and scheduling.

We will keep in contact with White Horse Park in regards to having the picnic at a later date ( July August September or October ) ..June is out due to a short time frame to get it set up

We are moving forward on having the football pool this year…more details at the next meeting..l will post more information in the Poop and Caw in future communications

Stay safe..and let’s hope we can get together in June if not in July

·         Dates to Remember:
o    6/11/2020 – Monthly Roost Meeting
o    6/27/2020 – Summer Picnic
o    7/9/2020 – Monthly Roost Meeting
o    8/13/2020 – Monthly Roost Meeting
o    10/31/2020 – Bull/Oyster Roast
o    12/12/2020 – Christmas Party

·         Membership: We currently have 121 paid members.  Thanks all!

·         Wellness: Please call Marian Cicero @ 410.250.2501 or 443.880.0862 if you know of a Roost member in need of a message of encouragement or a sympathy card for a family member.  Please, no texts or emails.

·         House: As stated in the last three Poops, the Abbey Burger (which made an outstanding offer in the winter) has decided not to reopen in 2020 and will be evaluating 2021.  Our list of possible meeting venues has gotten shorter.  If considerations of social distancing continue on, then Denney's that was marginal before may now be off the list.  Alley Oops may now be marginal.

The Board of Directors met recently and recommended that any meetings we might have from now until the end of the season should be held at the American Legion.  They have been booked for May, June, July, August and Sept if they happen.

Voting for the "most of the time favorite" will of course be delayed and will likely include only the American Legion (available all year) and Alley Oops (off season only).  Others would likely be for emergencies only.  Our situation seems to be ever changing.

·         Scholarship Golf: The winners of this years $2,200.00 Scholar/Athlete Scholarships are:

·         Penguin Swim:  Until further notice, the Penguin Swim fundraising activities have been put on hold.  Once it is safe to do so, we will start planning events

·         Good of the Roost: I got an email from the activities director at Brandywine Senior Living at Fenwick.  She is planning a purple car parade for June 23rd.  This car parade will be for the longest day celebration and a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association.  She is asking if any Ravens Roost members would like to participate in this car parade.  She is having shirts made and asking for a donation to participate.  All of the funds will go to the Alzheimer’s Association.  The parade line up would be at 1:40pm along Arrington Drive.  The parade would be from 2pm-3:30pm.  The cars would parade 2 times around the Brandywine building, (there is a road that circles around the back of the building next to the pond).  All cars should be decorated and decked out.  Everyone has to stay in their cars.  This will be an all purple parade!
Please get back to me if they are interested in participating.  I will not be able to attend but will pass along info to Heather, the director at Brandywine.
Thanks, Gary
