Weekly Poop 7/22/2020

Roost #44 Poop
·         (Frank’s note: All items subject to change/cancellation)

·         From the Prez
Our next Roost meeting WILL BE HELD on September 10th at the American Legion in Ocean City..The safety guidelines set up for the meeting are:
·         A non contact thermometer will be used to check temperature of each person entering the hall at the north end building
·         Hand sanitizers will be stationed at the door
·         Masks will be required to enter and when moving about to order food or drink, not when sitting at table
·         All tables will be socially distanced
It will be understandable if anyone does not feel comfortable to attend ..but if you do attend all safety guidelines will be adhered to..
If there is any new developments or announcements I will keep you all informed…

·         Dates to Remember:
o    9/10/2020 – September Roost Meeting
o    10/31/2020 – Bull/Oyster Roast
o    12/12/2020 – Christmas Party

·         Membership: We currently have 121 paid members.  Thanks all!

·         Wellness: Please call Marian Cicero @ 410.250.2501 or 443.880.0862 if you know of a Roost member in need of a message of encouragement or a sympathy card for a family member.  Please, no texts or emails.

·         House: As stated in the last three Poops, the Abbey Burger (which made an outstanding offer in the winter) has decided not to reopen in 2020 and will be evaluating 2021.  Our list of possible meeting venues has gotten shorter.  If considerations of social distancing continue on, then Denney's that was marginal before may now be off the list.  Alley Oops may now be marginal.

The Board of Directors met recently and recommended that any meetings we might have from now until the end of the season should be held at the American Legion.  They have been booked for May, June, July, August and Sept if they happen.

Voting for the "most of the time favorite" will of course be delayed and will likely include only the American Legion (available all year) and Alley Oops (off season only).  Others would likely be for emergencies only.  Our situation seems to be ever changing.

·         Penguin Swim:  Until further notice, the Penguin Swim fundraising activities have been put on hold.  Once it is safe to do so, we will start planning events.

·         Apparel: I spoke to Bill on Monday Morning and he apologized for any delays, very short on employees.  Bill’s cell phone if you have any questions is 410-430-7902.  Thanks, Rich.

·         Entertainment:
o    Entertainment meetings are suspended until further notice.

Christmas party booked for 12/12 from 6 to 10.  Upcoming are Duckaneer Pirate ship mid-August, trip to Tangier Island, hopefully away trip to Houston, depending on date, pub crawl on Kent Island in May, crab feast in October and a bull/oyster roast/Halloween party on 10/31, Capitols game in fall.  We'll keep all posted on dates.

o    Entertainment Schedule 2020:
§  10/31 – Bull/Oyster Roast
§  12/12 – Christmas Party

Local Poop
·         Monday & Tuesday - Drive-In Movies, Roland E. Powell Convention Center.  Looking for a fun and free event in Ocean City, Maryland?  Starting in mid-June, Ocean City will be offering free drive-in movies on Mondays & Tuesdays at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center!  This is an awesome experience for both residents and visitors to Ocean City.  The events provide entertainment while being mindful of physical distancing.

Funny Poop
·         A dietitian was once addressing a large audience in Chicago:

"The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago.  Red meat is awful.  Soft drinks erode your stomach lining.  Chinese food is loaded with MSG.  Vegetables can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long-term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water.

"But there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all have eaten or will eat it.  Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?"

A 75-year-old man in the front row stood up and said, "Wedding cake."

Etcetera
·         Got Poop?  Let me know!  I’m going to try to get this out every Wednesday so if you get it to me by Tuesday, I’ll try to include it.  Your input is appreciated.

·         Life is short.  Focus on the good.
