Raven’s Mock Draft:
There are two diametrically opposed styles to predicting a mock draft. Style number 1, is “We want these players and we don’t care about the possibility of anything else occurring before we pick!” The second style, which I use , “ This is what could happen and this is how I react to it.”Neither is very accurate because the draft is a fluid thing. My wife , Cindy, asked me , “How can you pick a mock draft when you have no idea what happens before you pick?”
There in lies the problem, but there in also lies the fun.
Several Basic Assumptions:
The Ravens don’t do well drafting Wide Receivers in the first round.
The Raven’s have been very successful drafting defensive backs in the first round . To name a few , Chris McAllister , Duane Starks, Marlon Humphrey and Jimmy Smith come to mind.
All things being equal, the Raven’s will trade a late first round pick to try to pick up multiple second or third round picks.
In my Mock Draft, I have the Raven’s trading their 22nd pick in the first round to the LA Rams for their 36th pick in the second round & their 69th pick in the 3rd round.
36. Deonte Banks DB Maryland
Fills the biggest weakness on the roster right now with Marcus Peters unsigned. Banks is Big, Physical, a Very Good Athlete who has the Mindset of a Raven!
69. Zach Harrison Edge OSU
Great pass rusher who has the ability to put his hand in the dirt & move inside or can stand up & rush the quarterback from the outside. Athletic & Versatile
86. Jonathan Mingo WR Ole Miss
Strong, Athletic, Great Run After Catch, Thick Upper Body,
Comparison: Anquon Boldin
Thanks, hope you had as much fun reading my Mock Draft as I had writing it, we’ll talk about it at the next meeting,
Raven’s Steve…..
