Scholarship Golf Tournament - The
22nd Raven Roost #44 Scholarship Golf Tournament was held at the Ocean Pines
Golf Course on May 31st. After the
Tournament, the golfers enjoyed a fantastic luncheon at the Ocean Pines Yacht
Club followed by a Silent Auction. All
in all, the Tournament was a great success that enabled Roost #44 to donate
$14,200.00 to seven graduating seniors from Stephen Decatur, Indian River and
Worcester Prep. Special thanks to the
Golf Committee, the members who volunteered at the Tournament and Silent
Auction and to all individuals, organizations and businesses who donated their
time and money to this worthy cause. The
major sponsors of the Tournament were The Original Greene Turtle, the Atlantic
General Hospital and the Matt Ortt Companies. Special thanks to CoChair Don McMullen who organized
the golf and supervised the awards with tremendous support from the Ocean Pines
Golf Course team. Committee members
included Pat and Fritz Lahner, Mike Eder, Bob Rose and Matt Herrmann. Thanks to Gary Miller who did a great job
organizing the Silent Auction which raised over $ 2,000. In addition to the Committee, volunteers the
day of the Tournament included Sandy and Ken Taras, Carol and Bob Munroe, Karen
McMullen, Tom Maly, Marie Rose, Rob Carpenter, and Herb Roe.
Above
all, I want to thank Marc Grimes who donated his time in helping with not only
fund raising, but by adding his help and mentorship to help the Committee
continue the tradition of Roost #44 Making a Difference for outstanding
local student-athletes in our local area.
The
weather was spectacular and it was a great day for Roost #44! Thanks to all who were a part of it. Hope to see even more members get involved in next
year's 23rd Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament!

A golfer and his buddies were playing a big round of
golf for $200.
At the eighteenth green the golfer had a ten foot putt to win the round, and the $200.
As he was lining up his putt, a funeral procession started to pass by.
The golfer set down his putter, took his hat off, placed it over his chest, and waited for the funeral procession to pass.
After it passed, he picked up his putter and returned to lining up his putt, and completed it, thus winning the game and the money.
Afterwards, one of his buddies said, "That was the most touching thing I have ever seen.
I can't believe you stopped playing, possibly losing your concentration, to pay your respects."
"Well," said the golfer, "we were married for 25 years."
