Roost #44 Poop
·
From the Prez – The
next Roost Meeting has been moved to TONIGHT
due to the Ravens preseason game on Thursday August 9 against the Rams in
Baltimore. The Roost Meeting will be
held the night before the game at OC 360 at 7:30. Please show up to help us kick off our new season.
Remember you can go straight into our
meeting room and order food. You don't
have to go to the bar to order food and drinks.
The
September Roost meeting will be moved to September 6, since
the Ravens will be in Cincinnati on our normally scheduled meeting day.
Marc
Grimes is stepping down as Chairman of the Golf Scholarship Committee. I would like to begin a discussion with Roost
members who would like to try to continue the Roost #44 Golf Scholarship event,
about whether we will continue to host this event. Whatever, we decide, every Roost member should
give Marc a great big 'Thank You' for his years of building this event into one
of Ocean City's major fund raising events. I personally hope we can carry on Marc's
legacy and continue the tournament and the funds it generates for outstanding
local graduating seniors.
Please
think about stepping up to volunteer for Board and Officer positions and the
Golf Scholarship Committee next year. Don't
hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the responsibilities for
any of these positions. eric_waterman@comcast.net or
410-598-4597.
Remember that your Roost Membership card entitles
you to a 20% discount on food, beverage & apparel purchases at the Original
Greene Turtle (116th St.). We encourage
all Roost members and committees to patronize the Original Greene Turtle!
Remember that we collect plastic grocery bags at
every Roost meeting. These bags are used
by Diakonia (Local Food Bank & Homeless Shelter) to distribute food
contributions to the needy. My white
Ford pickup truck is parked in front of OC 360 at every Roost meeting. Simply put your plastic bags (tied up tightly)
in the bed of the truck. This is a great
way to recycle plastic bags for a good cause.

Just Like Paradise Tour, $55-$95, 5:15pm.
PERFORMING WITH SPECIAL GUEST MATT NATHANSON! O.A.R. first began to develop their unique
sound while in high school in Rockville, Md. With three albums under their belt
before they finished college, the band began pursuing their musical dreams full
time in the summer of 2001. By the end
of 2008, the band had released six studio albums and three live double disc
CDs. To date O.A.R. has sold close to 2
million albums and more than 2 million concert tickets, including two sold-out
shows at New York City's Madison Square Garden and Red Rocks Amphitheater in
Colorado. In 2011, the band released the
album, "King," which was the follow-up to the band’s 2008 release,
"All Sides," which contains the platinum hit single “Shattered.” The band’s album, "The Rockville
LP," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart and No. 6
on the Top Current Rock Albums chart. The
album features the songs “Favorite Song,” “Two Hands Up” and smash hit,
“Peace.” 2016 marked the band’s 20th
anniversary with the release of their new album, "XX;" a
career-spanning collection that shines a light on key moments from the band’s
illustrious career and features two new songs including the new single “I Go
Through” which was written and recorded as the cameras rolled during the
captivating six-part docu-series Evolution of a Song. O.A.R. kicked off 2018 with the release of a
new single “Just Like Paradise,” and the announcement of a national summer tour
with special guest Matt Nathanson. Based
in San Francisco, Matt Nathanson is a highly applauded songwriter and engaging
performer. His 2007 album, "Some
Mad Hope," introduced the breakthrough, multi-platinum hit “Come on Get
Higher.” His 2013 release, "Last of
The Great Pretenders," debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard Top 200 and hit
No. 1 on iTunes’ Alternative Albums chart. Nathanson’s latest album, 2015’s "Show Me
Your Fangs," is hailed as his most adventurous and prolific album to date,
featuring the songs, “Giants,” “Bill Murray” and “Adrenaline.” The New Respects will be the opening act for

A
Congressman was once asked about his attitude toward whiskey. "If you mean the demon drink that poisons
the mind, pollutes the body, desecrates family life, and inflames sinners, then
I'm against it.
But if
you mean the elixir of Christmas cheer, the shield against winter chill, the
taxable potion that puts needed funds into public coffers to comfort little
crippled children, then I'm for it. This
is my position, and I will not compromise."

Congrats
go out to members Krista and Thomas Kaiser who welcomed their first child into
the world on July 30. According to
Krista, “Our son, Karl was born on 7/30/18.
Although he made us miss our trip to Canton to see Ray’s induction, we
are so in love!!” Best wishes to the
