From the Prez
–
I don’t know about all of you, but
I’m going a little stir crazy and need to see some surf, sand and boards…
There was a meeting among the
Ravens Council committee last night to determine whether the Convention will be
held or not…
To me personally I would rather
cancel until next year. I just think it
would be such a short window to put all things together. Again it will depend on the mandates being
lifted by the Governor and Mayor of Ocean City.
We have news on our meetings for
this year that I will have our house committee chairman Ron Apperson to
explain.
Nothing more to report, but will
give an answer quickly on the resolve of the convention as soon as I get the
information
Please stay safe…exhibit social
distancing...wash hands…and stay home only to go out for groceries and
prescriptions.

·
House:
Abbey Burger as a meeting site this year will not happen. They have decided to remain closed for the
rest of 2020 and hopefully reopen with a fresh start in 2021. We will have at least our next 2 meetings at
the American Legion whenever we and they start up again.
·
Scholarship Golf:
As you know, the Golf Tourney has unfortunately been cancelled, but
fortunately, this year’s scholarships will be awarded.
Indian
River, Stephen Decatur and Worcester Preparatory High School counselors are
gathering 2020 Scholar/Athlete applications for our review in May by our
Scholarship Committee. We plan to award
scholarships later in May.
Schools
haven’t determined if there will be formal scholarship awards/graduation events
yet.
·
Convention:
As Bob stated in the From the Prez, we are in a holding pattern and we
are waiting for the Council's decision before proceeding with Convention
registrations. As soon as we have
confirmation, we will let everyone know what’s going on.
·
Penguin
Swim: Fundraising
efforts for the 2021 Penguin Swim Team will be starting sometime in April. Events in the planning stages include:
Wine/Beer tastings at local wineries and brew pubs, the annual Booze Cruise,
Guest bartending events, and another charity weekend at The Shrimp Boat. Our Team goal for this year is $16,000.
·

mid-August, trip to Tangier Island, hopefully away trip to Houston,
depending on date, pub crawl on Kent Island in May, crab feast in
October and a bull/oyster roast/Halloween party on 10/31, Capitols
game in fall. We'll keep all posted
on dates.

cannot chair this event committee as hoped, so we are looking for someone to

Four friends
spend weeks planning the perfect lake camping and riding trip.
Two days before the group is to leave Rob's wife puts her foot down and tells him he isn't going.
Rob's friends are very upset that he can't go, but what can they do.
Two days later the three get to the camping site only to find Rob sitting there with a tent set up, firewood gathered, and supper cooking on the fire.
"Dang man, how long you been here and how did you talk your wife into letting you go?"
"Well, I've been here since yesterday. Yesterday evening I was sitting in my chair and my wife came up behind me and put her hands over my eyes and said 'guess who'?"
I pulled her hands off and she was wearing a brand new see through nightie. She took my hand and took me to our bedroom. The room had two dozen candles and rose pedals all over. She had on the bed, handcuffs and ropes! She told me to tie and cuff her to the bed and I did. And then she said, "now, you can do whatever you want."
So here I am.
