Roost #44 Poop
  • From the Prez - Remember the Sept. 14th Roost meeting stays at The Big Easy (the former Halls restaurant) on 60th St. at 7:30pm. Restaurant is open with full menu before the meeting. We return to the Original Greene Turtle in October.
    Is there interest in getting together at the Roxana Moose Lodge to watch the London game? They open at 9am in time to watch the game. Thanks for the suggestion, Nelson.

  • Road Trips
    NASHVILLE: Although our group rate for the Union Station Hotel for our Nashville Trip is guaranteed, the people from RR58 had to cancel, so we have 1 room open for the trip. Everyone has paid for the game tickets and shirts. I have paid for the tickets and expect to have a mock-up for the trip shirts soon.
    LONDON: As of right now I have 12 people that want to take the shuttle up to and back from BWI. The cost is $84/pp. Let me know at the get together if you want to join us. If you have any questions, please give me a call.

    • For Sale: (3) seats. We would like to sell the PSL and can discuss the price if someone is interested in making an offer. The other options would be preferably to sell the whole season (at cost), but will consider selling by game if the tickets are available. Section 550, Row 21, Seats 9-11.     • I have tickets for sale for TWO games. They are: Dec. 23 at 4:30--Indianapolis Colts and Dec. 31 at 1 PM – Bengals. Two seats are in Section 101, Row 32, seats 20 and 21. They are 3 seats from the aisle on the Visitors side of the stadium. I am asking face value for the tickets. Anyone interested should call Marius Ambrose at 302-947-4168.

  • Today thru Labor Day - 100 Nights of Lights, South End of Ocean City Boardwalk. From Memorial Day to Labor Day the south end of the boardwalk will light up with a new light show every night! The light display will be featured approximately every 20 minutes, from 9pm – 11pm.
  • Tonight - Free Movies on the Beach at Carousel Hotel, On the Beach at the Carousel Hotel. Enjoy free movies on the beach every Wednesday from June 7 to August 30 at the Carousel Hotel on 117th St. in Ocean City MD. Each week, a general audience movie is presented free of charge on our 16 foot projector. Bring a beach chair or blanket & enjoy the night beside the ocean. Movie starts at dusk.   • Tomorrow - The Little Mermaid, The Musical by Clear Space Theatre Company, Freeman Stage. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated Disney, this musical is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.   • Tomorrow thru Saturday - Poor Girls Open - Ladies Only Billfish Tournament, Bahia Marina. The Poor Girls Open is a ladies only billfish release tournament benefiting breast cancer research. There are also added entry levels for tuna and dolphin.
    This tournament was started by Capt. Steve Harman as a way for local waitresses and bartenders to have an affordable and fun competition while raising money for a very important cause. The tournament continues to grow with over 100 boats entering. Participation is not limited only to anglers as there are silent auctions, 50/50 tickets, T-shirts for sale, and other fun events helping to raise money for breast cancer research. In the past 3 years alone, the Poor Girls Open has raised over $100,000 that was donated to the American Cancer Society.
    Each angler or team may fish one out of three days.
  • Friday - THE WEIGHT BAND: Playing Songs of The Band, Freeman Stage. Performing songs of The Band, THE WEIGHT BAND is keeping the spirit and the music alive that helped define an era. Members of THE WEIGHT were either actual members in The Band, or are directly and deeply connected to their legacy. The group features Jim Weider from The Band, Brian Mitchell of the Levon Helm Band, Marty Grebb, who wrote for The Band and worked with Rick Danko and Richard Manuel, Albert Rogers from the Jim Weider Band and frequent performer at The Barn’s MidnightRambles. Michael Bram, the newest member of THE WEIGHT, played with Jason Mraz.

  • Saturday (morning) - Toad's Escape as presented by Rehoboth Summer Children's Theatre, Freeman Stage. Mr. Toad of Toad Hall is no ordinary amphibian. Wealthy, worldly and foolish beyond belief, Mr. Toad is a lover of motor cars, and one of the worst drivers in the English countryside. In spite of the efforts of his good friend, The Mole, Toad crashes car after car. With no vehicles left in his garage, the irrepressible Toad steals a stylish convertible and is promptly arrested and thrown into jail. The story of his daring escape, and reunion with The Mole is a hilarious, rollicking tale that must be seen to be believed.
    Based on the “The Wind in the Willows,” the Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre production captures the energy, spirit and humor of Kenneth Grahame’s well-loved book. Audiences of all ages will be thrilled by the exploits of the amazing and outrageous Mr. Toad. Two actors play all the characters in this, fun-filled, 50-minute production.

  • Saturday - Wings and Wheels Expo, Ocean City Municipal Airport. Private aircraft, custom cars, and antique military vehicles will be on display. Talk to the owners while admiring the machines. Food, beverages, and a variety of crafts will be available for purchase.

  • Saturday (evening) - Invincible at the Freeman Stage, A Glorius Tribute to Michael Jackson, Freeman Stage. The No. 1 Michael Jackson Tribute show returns to The Freeman Stage! This year, the Invincible show in addition to featuring his greatest hits such as “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” “Smooth Criminal,” “Thriller” and more will feature portions of the Invincible tour that were created but never toured alongside your favorite greatest hit songs and dances that MJ fans have come to love.   • Sunday - Somerset Plaza - Free Live Concerts & OC Cruzer Classic Car Display, Somerset Plaza between the Boardwalk and Baltimore Ave. Enjoy FREE special events and concerts on Somerset Plaza, located on Somerset Street between the Boardwalk and Baltimore Avenue in downtown Ocean City. All events start at 3pm. OC Cruzer cars will be on display during all music events. Somerset Plaza is a semi-pedestrian street that is closed to all vehicular traffic during these special events.

  • A man takes his place in the theater, but his seat is too far from the stage. He whispers to the usher, "This is a mystery, and I have to watch a mystery close up. Get me a better seat, and I'll give you a handsome tip."
    The usher moves him into the second row, and the man hands the usher a quarter.
    The usher looks at the quarter in his hand, leans over and whispers, "The wife did it."
